10 Questions - two themes...

1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week?

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women?

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you?

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money?

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)?

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false?

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.

(note - No. 10 is kinda weird, but I only ask it because I've actually given bubblewrap, a whole roll, as a gift and it was an asbolute hit. She loved it. :D

2. Alrighty then...my semi-daily collection of lies...er...honest answers.
1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on? About $150. And yes, we did have sex that evening, but we were dating, so we probably would have regardless of how much I spent. I just felt like doing something special on a whim.

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers. Oh yes. Many times.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week? Adjusting for 2003 dollars, I'd guess $100 a week. It's been a while though.

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Um...ya know, I'd love to say love, but I could do a lot of good stuff with the $10 million.

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women? Both can be frustrating.

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you? An ugly shirt.

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money? Yep. I let a woman's income affect my thinking on dating her. It was a big mistake; she was a liar, and the money was all her husband's. Yes, she was still married, too. Did I say she was a liar? I got new golf clubs out of the deal though, so it wasn't all bad. :D

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)? Style is more important than brand. If she looks good, what do I care if it is name brand?

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false? If the guys asks the lady out, he pays.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.
If it's sort of a gag/inside joke, I think it's a great gift. It shows you pay attention and have a sense of humor.

3. I don't notice you ever come back to read these, -but...
1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?

I dated a man in Hong Kong who flew me to Tahiti for dinner. I can't imagine it was an inexpensive gesture.

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers.

I have bought men spontaneous, romantic gifts.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week?

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Real love doesn't come with guarantees, but it's still worth more to me than money.

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women?

Pfft. Men are easy. Most women are easy. The only people hard to shop for are catty women. Wisely, I try very hard to exclude them from my gift list.

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you?

I'm sentimental. Nothing is a bad gift if you're sentimental. But I did get a fluffy, white, longhair plush cat once. Soooo not 'me.'

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money?

No on the former, yes on the latter.

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)?

I pay attention to the way a man styles himself, ...or doesn't. It's not a matter of designer labels so much as a matter of how he choses to represent himself. Even studded leather biker jackets, or plain t-shirts and jeans say something about who a man thinks he is.

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false?

On the first date, whomever has done the initial inviting is customarily the one who treats. Unless the first date is a group activity, in which each pays for their own. I think it's polite to offer to chip in regardless.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.

That very much depends on whom you're dating. I can think of two or three people who'd be enchanted with it.

4. 1. Around $200.
2. Oh yes. Plenty of times.
3. Not much, I confess; but I do pick up little things for her that I know she'll like.
4. Love. No contest.
5. Equally hard.
6. A stuffed animal.
7. First part: no. Second part: BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HAA! (wipes laughter tears from eyes)
8. No.
9. False. It should be discussed, but just very briefly. I've been on first dates where the woman insists on helping to pay the bill. Made her feel like an equal, not like an "item".
10. True.

7. I should be studying for finals, but damn that Magic Rat!
1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?

Um, expensive. Well that was in the day when I was making more money, obviously :-) Probably around $200 total.

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers.

I am gay, so this question is a little odd. I did buy an ex a flower when we kind of had a "make up and be friends" date. By "make up and be friends," I don't mean have sex, I mean stop fighting and stop bitchign about eachother to our mutual friends.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week?

I feel guilty.... most of the money I spend on my SO is for food for our house... You see, it's that poor student thing again.

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Love. I'm winning the lottery, so the cash will just have to wait :-)

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women?

Men. Women give you a list, men say, "well I don't know, get me something nice."

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you?

I've only had one SO that's been into the whole gift thing, and he's given rather decent gifts.

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money?

Yes, I was once dated because I had money.

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)?

I admit it, I'm a bit of a label queen, and I like people who look good in clothes. If the label is blaring on the item of clothing (like Tommy Hilfigger) it's a massive turnoff though.

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false?

False. Go Dutch, it's the only way to have a sane relationship.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.

It depends on the person. Some may think you're hinting at strangling them and dumping them in the river, others may think, "Hey cool!" Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!
I'd wait til the second date to know what kind of person they are.

8. Hmm, tough question.
1) Most of my "dates" with my fiance these days are pretty expensive. Airfare from NYC to London, ON ain't cheap, and that's just getting here. I haven't really been on a lot of formal "dates," ever, so otherwise, that's a tough question.

2) I've bought my SOs spontaneous gifts, although usually not traditionally "romantic" type gifts. I bought one of my exes some wild fabric because he likes to sew, and I bought my fiance a wooden box made by a friend of mine, because he'd been admiring them, for instance.

3) Umm, tough to say. Uh...(calculatecalculatecalculate) $60 or so, and that's *all* going to Bell Canada.

4) Give me the money, dude. I ain't monogamous by nature, and money problems are a *lot* harder to solve than love problems, being as they usually require someone else to sign the cheques...

5) I think men are harder to shop for. Women understand that if you ask them for a suggestion, you want a real suggestion, and not just, "Oh, whatever you can think of..."

6) Roses on HallmarkHershey--er, Valentine's Day -- *especially* when you consider that my birthday is the day before, and the SOB had the chutzpah to have them sent to my work, so I had to carry them home on the bus. Man, I felt like such a girl; it was awful!

7) Not really. I have dated someone (inasmuch as we were ever dating) because they were good in bed, though), and the idea of someone dating me because I have money is laughable. I've *never* had money!

8) Not really, although I must admit that "handmade" turns me on quite a bit. A guy who can sew is liable to be good with his hands at other things, too...

9) False.

10) False. If a guy showed up at my door with bubble wrap (and/or some other equally kooky things), I'd probably suspect it was going to be the Date From Heaven...especially if those other things included a laptop and a Pringles can, or a Linux distro, or an invitation to go play Legos or his ham radio set, or...or...

9. Answers
1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?

A few times, my husband and I have gone to some pretty nice restaurants and spent quite a bit, but only on special occasions.

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers.

Yes, I think so.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week?

Our finances are so interconnected at this point, that this is kind of moot for me.

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

If it would be guaranteed that we would both love EACH OTHER mutually in a healthy way, I'd choose love over money in a heartbeat.

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women?

Depends on the person, not the gender.

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you?

My husband gave me a horrible coat once that was unreturnable when I gave him a picture of what I wanted and specifically said, "If you're not sure, make sure it's returnable." Not only did he get something totally wrong, he knew I couldn't return it. :grr:

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money?

No and no

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)?

Not really, I don't care. If someone is clean and their clothes fit properly, that's what matters most, whether jeans and a t-shirt or a suit. In fact, ostentatious displays of brandnames on clothes kind of turns me off.

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false?

If it's a standard dinner and a movie type of thing, yes, but sometimes cicumstances are different and so is the "date", so it's an individual thing.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.

I don't think I'd like it personally.

16. Okay fine
1. It depends whether it's a date-date, or two married people going out. If it's a date-date, then not a whole lot of money. My husband and I started dating when I was (not quite) 18. If you mean two married people, then we've blown a couple hundred on dinner a few times. Anniversaries, feeling mortal, that sort of thing.
2. Sure. I've bought a girl flowers (she was hospitalized), and a guy balloons (ditto).
3. Wisconsin is a community property state, so half of what I spend in a week is spent on him by default. (Right?)
4. Probably the money. I'm not sure I'd want "guaranteed love." Sounds a little creepy.
5. Women.
6. I've actually never gotten anything too bad from a b/f.
7. I've never dated anyone because of wealth, and I don't know if anyone has ever dated me because of (purely perceived) wealth.
8. Not really. Anything between an Armani suit and Elad's shirt won't really get my attention.
9. No. Depends who asked. I think the asker should pay, but the askee should at least reach for his/her wallet.
10. Bubblewrap rules!

18. OK
. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?
$200 - I had to bail him out of jail

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers. F*** NO. I date straight guys. :P

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week? Oh, $10 - $25; we alternate the cost of meals and movies

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose? I'd take the money - because I know there's no such thing as guaranteed love and even if there was it sounds just a tad creepy

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women? Women - they are not one-celled creatures

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you? Diamond earrings - I don't have pierced ears and do not wear any jewelry

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money? NO

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)? NO

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false? If he asks, he pays; if she asked, she pays.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false. Only if it comes from Magic Rat

2. I've bought my husband roses and chocolate.

5. Depends on the man or woman.
6. My husband bought me high heals that I could not walk fifty feet in.
7. No.
8. I notice whether or not it makes them look good. I don't pay attention to brand. I pay attention to how the clothes look on them.
9. As a feminist, no. Realistically, it has made me feel special.
10. Yes, in many cases. You could use it as a type of screening though. If you wish to get serious with people that appreciate bubble wrap, that might be a good gift to judge their personality.

24. Yipee!
1. What's the most expensive date you've ever been on?

Hmmm. i've taken my husband for a couple $300.00 dinners. That's about it.

2. Have you ever bought a girl flowers, have you ever bough a guy balloons or whatever girls buy guys that would be the equivilent of flowers.

I've bought both a girl and a guy flowers. My husband loves to get flowers.

3. How much money do you normally spend on your SO over the course of a week?

I pay for his health insurance. His health insurance comes out of my check, and instead of asking him to pay me the money back, I thought it would be nice to be able to provide that for him. Other than that we generally split things.

4. If you could have $10,000,000, or someone guaranteed to love you for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

I'll stick with my husband. We do okay.

5. Who is harder to shop for, men or women?

Men.

6. What was the worst gift a g/f or b/f has ever given you?

I can't think of a bad gift from a g/f or b/f.

7. Have you ever dated anyone because they were wealthy, or has anyone ever dated you because you had money?

Nope. Although I did date someone who just happened to be wealthy.

8. Do you pay attention to the clothes the opposite sex is wearing (ie, do you care if it's designer or no-name brand)?

Brands? Not really. Except that if a person seems to care a lot about their brand of clothes, that's a turn-off.

9. On a first date, the guy MUST pay if he considers himself a gentleman. True or false?

Only if he was the one who asked.

10. Bubblewrap is a horrible idea for a first date gift. True or false.

false
