Less than 36 hours from now, I'll be settling in to my temporary home for the weekend, at Myrtle Edwards Park on Seattle's Waterfront, helping set up the "Largest Cannabis-themed Political Rally in the World", the 2006 Seattle Hempfest!
I haven't worked the 'fest since 2001, and things have changed considerably in the intervening 5 years: for one thing, it can no longer be denied that we are living in a Police State, only thinly disguised as a Constitutional Democratic Republic.
Nor can it honestly be argued that this current cabal has any concern for peace and freedom, as it is patently obvious the members of the ruling junta are willing to go to any lengths, sacrifice anything -- or anyone -- to achieve their goal of a Theocratic Dictatorship, with all who fail to worship The One True God consigned to the flames of their fervently-desired and passionately pursued Armageddon.
Still, those of us who truly understand the balancing act necessary to LIVE securely in anything resembling true Liberty have not given up the struggle... indeed, understanding the truth makes it incumbent upon one to continue to resist, to struggle, to oppose... whether one expects to win or not.
So it is with the stalwart warriors of Seattle Hempfest.
As one of the merry band of R(E)volutionaries once said: "We may not win, but damned if I'll be quietly complicit in the repression!"
Or, as one of my Video s/heroes, Seven of Nine, once said to her former Borg masters: "I will not comply!"
This weekend I'll be refreshed and restored by the company of a few dozen hard-CORE Freedom Fighters, supported by several hundred more truly marvelous volunteer warriors, and surrounded by tens of thousands more believers...
Revolutions have been won with less...
