So...I got my electric and water bill today...

I was so scared to open it. I've heard horror stories about Southern California utilities.

I get this bill every two months. It was INSANELY hot last month. I had houseguests. I refuse to skimp on the AC when it's over 100 degrees outside, so it was set at 77 degrees and was on constantly. We all took at least one shower a day, and not short ones. Since there were people in the apartment the lights, TV, computer, etc. were on almost all the time. There were three people doing laundry.

Seriously, I was scared shitless.

The damage? $125.

No shit.

...runs off to donate some of the money I set aside for my "horrid" bill to DU...

4. This is true

I now know to inquire about the utility provider before I move. I mean, I knew SCE was horrible, but I didn't know that DWP as that reasonable! I think I paid higher rates in Nebraska. Seriously, I was expecting a $300 utility bill, at least.

And we didn't really abuse it. If you go slightly over your normal usage they bury you.
