Just a shameless vanity post to tell the board that the last Bob Boudelang for 2003 is up.

One private high point for me was the freeper troll who sent Bob an e-mail earlier this year assuring Bob that people thought Bob was a joke and that nobody took a thing Bob said seriously (at first I thought it was a DUer playing a joke, but he was serious and proceeded to send the usual dreary right wing hate mail).

Something sort of astonishing--after I wrote the "baboon noses" column in which Bob got caught up in the e-mail scam about the fortune in Nigeria, Bob's e-mail began to receive about ten times the number of those emails that he had been getting before. For about three weeks Bob's account was getting almost hourly pleas for dough from people who had a forutne salted away somewhere they wanted to share...

I still don't think I've gotten over the Thomas Friedman column in which he argued that because of 9/11 pResident Turd had a right to "Pearl Harbor" Iraq even though they had nothing to do with the 9/11 attack due to something he invented called the "terrorism bubble." (Evidently something like a snow globe only more dangerous.)

By that logic, if you find your car stolen while out Xmas shopping, you are entitled to knock down and kick the nearest blind beggar or some senior citizen, to puncture that "car stealing bubble."

And Friedman is one of the smarter ones in that crowd.

What makes this especially funny was that he DARED Bob to reply...but when Bob sent back his standard freeper kiss-off (see the "Administrator's Notice" elsewhere) it turned out he had adjusted the AOL account not to accept e-mail from Bob.

On another internet forum on Delphi one evening I got so tired of a Reagan-worshipping internet tough guy that I accepted his challenge and told him to meet me in Brooklyn (I'm not in Brooklyn, but he thought I was) at the corner of Bedford and Stuyvesant (if you know Brooklyn you know why THAT's funny). Instantly he began spouting excuses about why he couldn't show up, earning from that point on, the nickname "Nancy."

I had a friend who owned a collection of African American jug band recordings from the 1920s and before. (He liked obscure music--what can I say?) One got stuck in my head for several years, the entire lyrics of which seemed to consist of:

It reminded me of a *M*A*S*H* episode when Hotlips looks at Hawkeye and says "You're ruining this war for the rest of us."

I steal, I mean, am inspired by a lot of stuff...Bob himself is a knockoff of The Good Soldier Schveik, who refused to believe that the Austrian Army could commit a clerical error during World War One and draft a 70 year old man, and so showed up at the recruitment office waving his crutches and shouting "On to Belgrade!" where he annoyed the recruiters so much they put him in the army and sent him to the front.
