Update on my "ratdog"
vet just called, kidney and pancreas numbers are very high

she is going in for some IV's in about a 1/2 hour and another round tomorrow - we will be bringing her home after each IV session

we'll know how well she is responding in about 48 hours

keep up the good thoughts

4. update
back from the vet-round 1 of the iv fluids done - we go back for round 2 tomorrow morning

she got a shot for nausea and a shot of anti-biotics, came home with pills for the same

don't know if the meds/IV are kicking in already or something else, but she went sniffing her food bowl when we got home, I fed her a little bland chicken and she looked at me "that's all???" so I gave her a bit more - bowl licked clean and she's looking for more - but I'll hold off for a few hours to make sure she's holding down what she's already eaten

she's settled back in her bed with her blankie and bunny

thank all for your thoughts, hope to be out of the woods soon

5. 6:06am Saturday
thought the ratdog had perked up a bit, but by early evening she is just laying on her pillow, not interested in food or water

she also "peed" on herself a couple of times - doesn't want to get off the bed at all. We cleaned her up, changed the bed and put several layers of towels under her just in case she pees again.

my partner and I spent most of the evening in tears, I thought the ratdog wouldn't make it through the night

she's still alive this morning, I got her up and brought her out to her food/water dishes - she's shaky when she stands, wasn't interested in eating or drinking, she did manage a few steps, squatted and peed on the floor

I cleaned up her bed again, she's sleeping now, but I think this is it. We go back to the vet this morning for another round of IV fluids, but I doubt it's going to do any good - and I'm wondering if we should just put her to sleep now or give the IV's another go

6. Well, being the animal lover that I am, I'd give the IVs another go.
And is she still hasn't improved, the most humane thing to do would be to put her to sleep, so at least she would not be suffering anymore. Good luck and please keep us posted.
