Where Do You Choose To Sit In A Movie Theater?
And do you stay for the credits... or are you the FIRST one out of the door?

Me: aisle seat halfway back. I watch the credits.

Middle of the row in the middle of the theatre for the surround sound and view.

2. Wouldn't it be more comfortable to sit in the middle if credit watching
is your thing? Don't have have all sorts of people stepping over you in the aisle seat?

5. Way in the back...so no one is sitting behind me.
I HATE people who talk throughout the movie. Thus, I sit as far in the back as I can.

And I sit through the credits, also. Sometimes, there will be surprises in the closing credits (the Zucker brothers, who did "Airplane!" and the "Naked Gun" movies, were good at that.)

I'll watch the credits unless the soundtrack annoys me.

I also like sitting in the back because I smuggle in outside food/drinks! :o

25. I hate people talking too...
...but I do the exact opposite and usually sit five rows from the front, dead center...this way if people are talking, they are usually drowned out by the sound of the movie...

...and YES I watch the credits!

27. I will move if anyone sits near me - unless its "cheek to jowl" seating
I love good movies - almost a religious experience (last good one - "The Missing). I tolerate no distractions or noise!!! I like to go to early shows when there is no one there and always sit in the last row - on the left or right side - aisle seat.
Popcorn chompers drive me insane esp. with those irritating new paper bags - how thoughtless of the theaters to go with those.

9. I sat in the 2nd row for ROTK
Usually I sit along the sides of a theater in the aisle seat. And I don't stick around for the credits. Especially after ROTK, after 3 & 1/2 hours I just wanted to feel my ass again. :D

16. due to my disability
I have fibromyalgia, and sitting in a cramped seat is very difficult. Therefore, I only see films in a theatre with stadium seating. I sit in the first row of the upper section (only one or two steps) towards the middle, where I've got that handy rail to prop on.

And I usually stay for the credits.

When I go with my wife, we sit separately. She sits right in the middle, about the 3rd row.

30. That happened to me
My husband and I were the only ones in the theater to see "Gettysburg." This older guy sat right behind us and quietly said the lines along with Robert E. Lee, aka Martin Sheen! I think he must have thought he WAS Robert E. Lee. We were kind of amazed by it.

31. Aisle, towards the back
away from everyone else. I hate extraneous noise. Funny story - once, in a very dark theatre, just after opening credits, a man came in, looked around for somewhere to sit, and promptly sat in my lap. He was so embarrassed he left the theatre.

I always stay for credits - i like to read the soundtrack bits and they are nearly always last.

33. Center, in the row with a wider space to the row in front
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 01:21 PM by JCCyC
In most theaters here, that's row 15-20. And I DO want to see all credits, and get very annoyed when the people I'm with drag me out.

Edit: "row in front", not "front row".

34. Right Smack in Front
in a big theater, often the second or third row.

For visual pictures -- LOTR, Matrix, Master and Commander, etc -- being close to the theater can make for an overwhelming experience. The edges of the screen bleed off into peripheral vision and make it more immersive.

Plus it's usually less crowded down there. I can smuggle in a beer and put my feet over the seat in front.

36. I am a movie ho...
I sit center front, anywhere from 5-6 rows from teh screen -- howere close I need to be to have my field of vision filled and be IN the movie!

And I watch the credits always, looking for folks I have worked with and watching for any little extra scenes the director has added on at the end.

And I bring my own fluid supply but insist on having the house popcorn with butter.

Guess where I will be on Xmas day???

37. Last row back, aisle seat. I'm claustrophobic...
And I like the option of just slipping out, although I rarely have to. Also, I cannot stand to have people sitting behind me -- eating, talking, kicking the seat, etc.

The downside with these seats is when people drift in after the movie starts, they stand there near the doors and hover right over you, talking, muching on their popcorn, etc., while they wait to get their night vision and can spot their friends down in the middle of the theater.

40. Dead center, back row
in a megaplex, or dead center front balcony in an old-fashioned REAL theatre.

I stay until the bitter end of the credits. There's interesting things to be seen by those who wait, and read. I can't stand people who stand up and start yapping basically before the credits even start rolling.
