Reds vs. Dodgers 16 Inning Marathon Last Night
In just under 5 hours, it took 16 innings for the Dodgers to defeat the Reds 6-5. We were there for EVERY pitch and play. :-)

Pictures from last night's game at Dodgers Stadium:

Kids came out onto the field for autographs:

An hour or so before game time:

Kenny Lofton on third base, the rally tied the game for 10 innings:

16. Cool!
I like that action shot of the pitch leaving the mound. Great pics! :D

I have yet to see any games in the current White Sox park. Saw a couple of Tigers-White Sox games in old Comiskey during the summer of '83, a couple of days after seeing a Dodgers-Cubs game.

7. It's the best!
I first saw the Cubs in Wrigley Field in 1983 - well before they had lights - in a game against the Dodgers. Although I was pulling for the Dodgers, I fell in love with Wrigley, and have had a soft spot for the Cubs ever since! My heart was right with you all in the 2003 playoffs. :-)

In the immortal words of Harry Carey: "A one... a two! Take me out to the ball game...!" :toast: HOLY COW!

14. Some day...
I've never been to Wrigley. Only actually been to Chavez and Coors. One day, though...I might be old and gray and stooped but I'm gonna be in those right field bleachers.

*sigh*

I haven't made it to a single game this year. Not. One.

'cept my kids'.

5. What inning was it
when you took the crowd shot, the next-to-last one? I'm guessing the 12th or later, judging by all the empty seats.

W00t! We just went up 2-0. :bounce:

I brought my little handheld radio to the game, just to catch the innings Scully does. It is one of the classic soundscapes of my life. :D

29. It is
I grew up with baseball on radio — the Giants on KSFO, the Dodgers on KFI after sundown, which was the only time we could get it up here.

Teevee games were pretty rare then. We got all nine Giants games on KTVU when they were at LA, but that was about it. Still, if you wanted to see crazy shit in a ball game, those were the games to watch.

Seems like Dodger fans invented the concept of bringing radios to the game. It used to be said you could be anywhere in the stadium and hear Vinny's voice echoing all over the place.

But, hell — I'm happy I can get 'em on streaming audio. For years, after they dropped KDWN in Las Vegas, I couldn't hear 'em at all.

10. We're going to the Tigers/Angels game this weekend.
Which happens to be Fiesta Tigre'... a celebration of the Hispanic contribution to baseball...and a chance for WanneBe and me to hang out and for her to continue her love for all things Magglio.

Here's a shot I took at the last game we went to... I suffer so for her follies:

She's bringing this picture with her to see if he will sign it for her after warmups. :hi:

She actually liked the shirts I picked out for her when we went school shopping. :loveya:

Would you believe I went to stub hub and paid $40 for $8 Pepsi Bleacher seats just so she could sit behind him?

It looks like you guys had a great time.

Dodger dogs, Cracker Jacks, popcorn, sno-cones, beer... great seats too!

Speaking of the Tigers, one of my first baseball cards when I was a kid was commemmorating Al Kaline joining the 3000 Hit Club.

And hey, I remember The Bird too. :hi:

32. That was totally Maddux's game
Well, until the eighth and those three homers.

But he starts two double plays, makes a great play covering first and drives in two runs, one on a squeeze.

Yeah, I think that was a pretty good trade. :7

(Sorry, rrr.)

38. It was packed during the regulation innings
Sold out crowd of 47,000. But it was also the night before the first day of school, so many people and their kids gave up by 11PM.

Know this fact: L.A. leads the National League in attendance. And although I am a hardcore who stays until the last out, I won't begrudge anyone not toughing out 5 hours on a weeknight. :-)

Sure made traffic easier afterwards, lol.

37. Bummer,
back when I was a baseball fan while growing up the Reds were my team. When I graduated high school in 1970 the Dodgers finished 14.5 games behind them that year. I didn't even know that Ken Griffey Jr. was still playing for them.
