I had a teacher who was Russian and had defected. She invited me to her home one night and played me endless Pink Floyd.

"Thees! Thees is vy I defected!" I was feeling a little superior (I'd been listening to Pink Floyd all my life) but I just sat there stunned. I think I may have learned something then. Not quite sure what...
