Fuck Radio Shack!
Just heard on the news that Radio Shack fired 400 workers by email! Then, told them they had only 30 minutes to say good-bye and leave. :grr:

I will curse Radio Shack, now, as I did several other $hitty businesses--now out of business. If you are employed there, still (by some miracle) you should look for another job immediately. My curses are few and far between, but they usually materialize.

3. Sorry
It just really infuriates me. I do feel badly for any employee associated with them. Radio Shack simply no longer exists...to me.

Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 12:49 PM by bertha katzenengel
but I'm not finding anything that's other than blog entries.*

Still if it turns out to be true, I'll never shop there again.

* On edit: I now see where it looks like AJC actually has an article on this in the business section, registration is required.

RadioShack lays off employees via e-mail

06:28 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 30, 2006

Associated Press

FORT WORTH - RadioShack has executed its announced plans to cut about 400 jobs.

But the electronics retailer has been put on the defensive about how it notified the workers ticketed for layoffs. They did it by e-mail.

Employees at the Fort Worth headquarters received an e-mail Tuesday morning that told them they were dismissed immediately.

Company spokeswoman Kay Jackson said employees had been told in a series of meetings that layoff notices would be delivered electronically. She said employees were invited to ask questions before Tuesday's notification on a company intranet site.

The electronic notification was quicker and allowed more privacy than breaking the news in person, Jackson said.

Laid-off workers got one to three weeks pay for each year of service, up to 16 weeks for hourly employees and 36 weeks for those with base bay of at least $90,000.

8. my husband has lately despised them
the old days, when you could find all kind of funky components, are gone. All they seem to do know is hawk cell-phones. Still, I hate to see anyone lose their livelihood. :(
