Reports: Katharine McPhee Up for 'Wonder Woman' Role

— "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee as "Wonder Woman"?

Hey, it could happen.

McPhee, who finished behind Taylor Hicks in last season's "Idol," is being considered for the big-screen version of "Wonder Woman," according to reports.

The movie will be directed by "Buffy" creator Joss Whedon and produced by Joel Silver. A screenplay is expected to be completed by year's end.

McPhee, who's talked openly about her battle with bulimia, will appear on the cover of an upcoming issue of Shape magazine clad in a bathing suit.

The cover could prove she now has what it takes for the tight-fitting costumes the movie requires.

3. Morena Baccarin from Firefly/Serenity
Is my first choice.

I think Joss Whedon has considered all his former cast members. Even Nathan Fillon.

10. oh, for fuck's sake
can hollywood PLEASE put a minimum 5-year moratorium on remakes and comic book movies; which might induce them to come up with original ideas?

I demand it! More Comic book movies, more sci-fi!

Remakes I can agree with. Moratorium on remakes.

12. I want Tom Cruise to play Wonder Woman.
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 05:00 PM by Rabrrrrrr
And I want Ron Howard to direct it, and Jerry Bruckheimer to make it happen.

Soundtrack by Oasis or any of those other newer, cookie-cutout, fake bands that all have a cute lesbian, a guy with a goatee, and a guy with a beret (usually the drummer), one frontman with glasses (probaly sunglasses), one without, one guy in a wool winter hat, probably with sunglasses, another guy with a gat of some kind, but at least one who doesn't have a hat, and of the two sunglass wearing dudes, one should have a goatee (or just a long chin beard) and the other must be totally shaven in the face, a band who wear retro outfits and pretend to be vegetarian and they all play the same songs but their fans talk about "musical differences" (no, dude, this is the band with the LUTE, not the DULCIMER) and "totally different approaches to lyrics" (No, dude, this is the band that talks about PETA and the angst of being a rich suburban teenager in turgid, sophomoric, uncreative asinine ways NOT the band that talks about World Wildlife Fund and the angst of being a rich suburban teenager in turgid, sophomoric, asinine ways). You know, that whole genre of music that is degined by clothing and look, not musicality or artistry, like this:

or this:

15. "no, dude, this is the band with the LUTE, not the DULCIMER"

Except all the radios agree with all the TV's
And all the magazines agree with all the radios
And I keep hearing that same damn song
Everywhere I go
Maybe I should put a bucket over my head
And a marshmallow in each ear
And stumble around for another dumb numb week
For another hum drum hit song to appear
People used to make records
As in a record of an event
The event of people
Playing music in a room
Now everything is cross-marketing
It's about sunglasses and shoes
Or guns or drugs
You choose
We got it rehashed
We got it half-assed
We're digging up all the graves
And we're spitting on the past
And we can choose between the colors
Of the lipstick on the whores
Cuz we know the difference
Between the font of twenty percent more
And the font of teriyaki
You tell me
How does that make you feel?
You tell me what's real...

18. I COULD get behind that
The main worry I'd have would be her acting ability, of which we've seen naught.

If they test her and the girl can act, she has the right look for it I think. Plus she doesn't have any other acting baggage which could make the roll suck (see Halle Berry - Storm)

22. Joss would not do that.
Joss likes talented actresses. She might be going to audition for it, but I can't see him putting her in a starring role in the movie.

27. I agree. This doesn't pass the smell test.
Joss Whedon has never been one for stunt casting. I didn't know who any of the actresses on his shows were before I saw them for the first time.

Kate Beckinsale, or Monica Bellucci would be my number 1, and 2 choices...but maybe an unknown of sorts is needed...I just hope its not some Catwoman cheese fest...

on edit:even Trinity from Matrix, Carrie Ann Moss would do good IMO.

26. Alright, well I do think she's really pretty
but, like a poster a few posts above said, I have no idea about existence/lack of acting ability. I'm sure I could still sit through a movie with her in it either way, but still... :-)
