Need A Hug-Feeling Kind of Sad
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 06:38 PM by Liberalynn
Today I took the littlest of the ferral kitties, to the Animal Shelter. They were six weeks and eating on their own, so I couldn't stall anymore.

I really wanted to keep them but there is no way, I could afford to take care of thirteen cats on disability. My Mom and Sister are already helping me out enough with the other six. We are taking them to the same shelter in a few weeks to have them fixed because they are offering a spay/neuter for twenty five dollars a cat. At least I get to bring them back home with me.

You've already heard the story of Cole, Cally, and their first four off spring here. There is no way, I could part with them.

I just hope the shelter finds the babies good homes. I know they are one of the best shelters in the area, and I was really relieved when the guy on the intake brought them in a huge cat crate and put in food, water, a box with blankets, and a litter box. It put my mind at ease right away.
Those silly little kitties though curled up in the litter box, instead of the box with the blankets.

Know it's silly of me, but I just hated taking them away from their older brothers and sisters, and their Mom. I know they aren't human, but I think a part of them, will miss each other in a way, at least I think so, even if it is not scientifically sound.

Plus I am going to miss the little cutties.

Everyone keeps telling me I did what was best. My therapist told me that not many would take in two ferrals and then do so much for them and their babies. She said that I am doing a good thing. I do know that I guess, I just still feel a bit sad. I didn't want them to go.

3. Thank you for the hug!
Hopefully they will find some nice homes for them, where they will get the life of Garfield. That's what I try to keep thinking.

I am glad to know there are such people left in the world still, and glad to have such wonderful cyberpeers.

You did the right thing.

4. Thank you!
I'm trying to think of them having good homes, and imagining people who really need a friend, finding companionship with them.

6. You've got a hug from me!
  I adopted two ferals many years ago. They were a lot of work but absolutely adorable. I was told they would probably have been used as bait if a local woman hadn't taken them in. You've done what you can. I have a feeling that they will be okay.

8. Thank you for the hug
and adopting the ferrals you adopted too.

I know Lollypop screens their adoptive families well, so hopefully they will find them loving homes. I was glad they agreed to take them, because I live in a different county, but our shelter was full on cats, and not as well equipped and nice as this one is.

Lollypop does euthanize when they can't place animals but they said they would do everything they could to find the kittens homes first and that they try to keep them as long as they can. I just hope they find them homes right away.

The staff were really friendly and helpful and said they were so pleased that we'd already been in touch about the ferral spaying program, and that they would also test the ones that are staying here for feline lukemia and give them their rabies shots.

Thanks for the reassurance. I need to believe that they are going to be okay.
