Warren Buffett wed his longtime companion, Astrid Menks, in a private ceremony Wednesday, his 76th birthday.

Susan A. Buffett, who hosted the wedding at her Omaha home, said her father and Menks, 60, were wed by Douglas County District Judge Patricia Lamberty in a 15-minute ceremony about 5 p.m. The groom wore a business suit, and the bride, carrying white roses, wore a blue silk top and white pants.

"It's her only and his last (wedding)," Susan Buffett said her father noted. Menks' sister, Lili, also attended.

The wedding party went out for supper after the ceremony.

1. Guess that's why he gave away all that money to Bill so there
could not be any issues when he dies. Which we knew more about the bride.

2. Poor Warren, he so obsessed about his money
He refuses to help his own family (grandkids) fund worthwhile projects.
He provides them with all the education in the world but refuses to allow
them to fail because of his money... What a gaffer..

Things are alot harder to do today Warren, than they were 50 yrs ago!
You're out of touch with reality and hold your fortune in too high a regard.
You think more of your fortune than your family.

8. He's given each of his children HUGE amounts of money
By any standard his children are well taken care of. I think Buffett has been very involved with Bill Gates Sr. in working against the R's efforts to eliminate the inheritance tax. I, like Buffet, don't believe in giving obscene amounts of money to my heirs. It promotes sloth.

9. I don't believe in absolutes..It promotes tunnel vision-

Buffet hasn't been quite the benfactor to his grandchildren.
When worthwile projects have come up worthy of financing..he used
the lame excuse: "well, it wouldn't be fair to the other grandkids, if I help you."

What in the world does that mean...To me, it's a lame excuse.

10. Not true
His granddaughter was on Oprah the other evening. She works as a mother's helper in SF. Buffet paid all of her education, including grad school, and some travel etc. when she was younger. As far as cash, nada.

14. that's a grandchild
not a child. all of his children are multimillionaires.

and my grandfather paid for my education (total, so far, for tuition, fees, and expenses: about $350,000) instead of giving cash. not that he was in buffett's league. he gave his money to his children (including my mother) to do with as they see fit. it's what I will do, when I win the lottery, at least.

16. His children all received somewhere in the range of $100's of million
So if any of his grandchildren aren't filthy rich then I'd say talk to the parents.

3. His deceased wife Susan introduced them 30 years ago...
<snip>
Buffett and his wife Susan were married more than 50 years, but it was not a typical marriage. They separated in 1977, but still attended social functions as husband and wife, and she still sat on Berkshire's board as a major stockholder. She lived in San Francisco until her death in 2004, while Buffett and his paramour, Astrid Menks, lived together in Omaha. Susan introduced Menks to her husband, and they remained friends. When acquaintances received presents from the Buffett family, the card was often signed by all three of them.

4. The more you read the more you pity the depraved man..
Just more evidence the man has little confidence in himself and lives in constant fear of being poor.

As the old saying goes: "He held onto his money so tight, the Indian rode the buffalo!"

7. seems to depend upon what you're projecting
sounds sweet that the man can marry the woman he's lived with for 30 years.

What are you projecting? Or attempting to project?

13. I Have to Say They Look Like an Average Couple
and his new wife doesn't have a fucked-up big-hair bee hive on her head with absurd bling bling to adorn her neck.. I can respect that.

18. The grandchildren, by the time they finish college, have enjoyed
more wealth than most of us will ever know. I'm sure it's hard to understand Buffett's expectation that they fend for themselves after an upbringing like that.
