Just saw my first ballet that I didn't get kicked out of - ask me anything
The only other time I've been to a ballet I got kicked out of Gizelle for bringing in my own bottle of wine.

So tonite I saw the Nutcracker. This Jew is totally ignorant of the story, but I recognized a bunch of the songs from holiday TV commercials for jewelry.

Nodded off during the first act, when they were setting up the story about the toys and shit. The mouse battle was pretty cool, but I just saw ROTK yesterday. Not like I expect a bunch of rodents to compete as far as battle scenes go, but it did take away from some of the potential excitement. That and the fact that I'm not 8 years old.

Act II was much better. After a coffee, I started getting into it. The Sugar Plum Fairy was a total hottie. You can't say the same about any Democrats who wear pink tutus. I'm glad in Act II, they finally decided to do away with frivolous things like a storyline. If you want a story, read a book. Ballet's for watching anorexic people jump around - doing death-defying leaps & twirls... kinda like the Ice Capades without the ice. Major disappointment came because I read the program at intermission and expected to see dancing beverages (Spanish Hot Chocolate, etc....). Just more dancers.

But all in all a good experience. I feel all cultured and shit.
