A message from rbnyc
Early this morning Rene lost the baby. She miscarried without complications and is recovering well. She needs to spend some time in mourning with her husband and her family. She won't be able to take calls for a few days.

Rene wants me to thank you all again for your love, your thoughts, and your prayers. Of course, she thanks you for the flowers and stuffed critters, too.

She wants you to know that your support has really helped her through this and continues to comfort her.

I wish I could be there with her instead of at my desk with a phone in one hand and the other on the keyboard.

How sad, I know how excited she was and how much she looked forward to being a mother! Please tell her we're all thinking of her and she's in our thoughts and prayers. I know there really isn't anything that can be said that would really make any difference except how sorry we are. I am glad, though, that she's physically okay.

7. F@ck, this is why I am putting off kids

After friends have had kids, now I am hearing about these complications that many had with miscarriges along the way.

My wife would be shattered - I don't know if she could cope with such a loss if it was any later than a month or two in.

She told me tonight that she doesn't know what she would do without all of her friends at DU - and her mom to be her pipeline to the Lounge.

I read about half the replies to her before she got too tired to stay on the phone. Keep kicking this post so I can find it tomorrow night when I call her to read the rest. ;-)

hard to find the words. I send my love - to you, your husband, your mom and your larger family. What a terrible loss. Mourn as you must and finding comfort where you can to help make it bareable. Peace will then follow - patience and freeing yourself to work through the emotions associated with all of this (from the accident, to the pain, to this final big blow) - will enable you to eventually find that peace.

My heart hurts so much for you. Every tear we (hubby and I) shed is to help you heal. I can't imagine the hurt; I can send the karma. I love you, girl, and your pain is shared by all of us on DU.

God, I don't know what to say, this hurts horribly. Flama, you raised a daughter worthy of praise and admiration. I am so very, very sorry.

I can't type any more for tears. But I do have a picture/audio CD in mind. It will take a few days to put together, and another few to get to NY by our (excellent) post office. I hope it will provide comfort and hope.

I am sorry for your loss. Although your marriage has started with some incredible challenges, you have each other for strength & love.
All things come in their own time. That little soul that was with you for such a short time gave you a window to the love of a child.
That little spirit will always be with you.

Rene is my baby and I am thankful that she will be OK.

Her baby is someone nobody knew but her. Rene and Cliff must be alone in their grief. The support she has gotten at DU is helping them through this.

I've heard from a friend of Rene's that she's been moved to a new room to start her rehab. I have a phone number and an address, please PM me if you would like the info. Rene's friend that Rene will very much miss the nurse's where she was before and that cards and phone calls will be very helpful.

for posting the update and fielding the PMs, Lori. Rene will certainly appreciate hearing from her DU friends. (And you'll give me more time to try reaching her. Dialing her hospital number felt like dialing a radio contest to be the 19th caller and win a pair of concert tickets. The line was always busy.)

Rene anticipates growing fond of the staff at the rehab facility in the next week or so. It's not easy to love people who make you hurt on a regular basis and won't take no for an answer. Maybe it is. She loves me. ;-)

How many weeks was she when this happened? This is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. Did they have to do a D&C or did she spontaenously abort? Or was it a missed abortion?
