4. Of course we know the real reason he hasn't returned
It's all those people wearing crosses around their necks!

Be like wearing a bullet around your neck, going up to Jackie O and saying "Thinking of John."

Thanks to Bill Hicks for that one :)

8. Jesus was actually born in September or August
And a Roman emperor (I don't know which) combined Jesus's birthday with a Roman holiday which also fell on December 25th. Therefore Christmas became December 25th.

9. Just curious, but ....
Where in the "Helios Biblia" does it say that, anyway?

(Of course, having the user name i have, i just couldn't resist)

PS
"Holy Bible" = "Helios Biblia" = "Solar Book"

PPS
Amazing how many other saviour god-men share that same birthdate, isnt it?
Including, but in no way limited to:
Mithra of Persia (predates Jesus by Millenia)
Krishna of India (same)
Horus/Osirus of Egypt (ditto)
Dionysus (ditto)
Attis of Phrygia (same)
and of course, Buddha

The actual list of god men and goddesses born on or near what has become known as December 25th numbers in the dozens if not hundreds.

Happy Winter Solstice Celebration!

every year. I thought that was kind of a cute Christmas tradition. Oh, and yes, I know that December 25th isn't His true birthday, but we have to have it sometime.

Happy Birthday, Dancing Jesus! Rock on!

11. Was December 25
really December 25 back then?

Next question: in the Middle Ages Christmas was a very minor holy day, much less important than Michaelmas. What's up with that and also, what's Michaelmas?

Last question: why am I asking so many questions, natural intellectual curiosity or just looking for something to on about?

12. Not Dec. 25.
The celebration of Jesus' nativity was shifted to Dec. 25 to coincide with the Feast of the Unconquered Sun (pagan solstice celebration). In fact, MOST of Jesus' biography comes from earlier pagan deities...Mithras being the main one. Mithras was born just after solstice, was called "the light of the world", etc., had 12 disciples, performed miracles, and his followers took communion...in the form of actual flesh and blood (bull's blood...Mithras' symbol was a bull). Nice myth, but not much more.

14. only thing is
he was supposedly born in April......Christmas was a take over from Constantine who tried to combine the celebration of the Winter Solstice with the birth of Jesus. It's all made up. The tree, the mistletoe, the yule log, it's all pagan. It was Constantine's way of trying to well 86 the pagen holiday and combine the events that weren't really combinable. Hence we have a pagan holiday with baby Jesus hanging around. Sorry I don't think it was his birth. after note is this Constantine succeeded in combining the uncombinable and giving us Christmas. Yet it's not Jesus's birthday.

15. Does it matter?
All pagan holidays came from something also. Using the 25th as Christs Birthday is just a date to use. Although doing a bit of research on the celibrations of birthdays will show that they werent really celibrated anyway. Many cultures today still don't celibrate them.
What is wrong with Christians having a date to celibrate their Lord's birthday? Trying to prove that Christ was born on a different date doesnt take away from the fact of the impact he had on the world. It's a petty debate. Just my opinion. People seem to find a thrill at pointing out the pagan traditions to the Christians. These are all pretty well-known facts. Nothing new here.

19. Understanding Pagen roots
doesn't mean you have to nullify Jesus. YOU can though understand history and realize your rituals come from paganism.

17. It doesn't really matter, does it.
But then it doesn't really matter whether there was or wasn't a historical Jesus either. Christianity is what it is, whether Christ was born or not, not matter when he might have been born.

20. huh?
Paganism is as valid as any other belief. I have no "agrument" here. I was just saying that to diss the Christians for their dogmas or beliefs and trying to point out any "errors" in their system is petty.
What is a Lord? Jesus is the Lord to the Christians. That is their Lord. As the moon is one to a Pagan.
Christmas was not stolen..LOL. It is a day and time. Who steals days? Maybe the date became the date reserved for the Christians to celibrate their savior's birthday, but it isn't stolen. It was desinated only. From the real Pagans I know, they celibrate thier beliefs and don't try to point out the other beliefs that "stole" their original ones. It isn't a compitition, it is a spiritual journey.
And what is this about "destroyers of pagenism"? Paganism is alive and well and the friends I have that are, are just fine with it. It's too bad that your Paganism was destroyed. Maybe you should re-evaluate your beliefs..if you are a true Pagan, and try to concentrate on that instead of judging others. But thanks for the history lesson.....

24. It made perfect sense for governments and employers in that
time. When you had a whole bunch of people of differing religions, consolidate them into one.
Obviously the Jews did not go along with this scheme.

32. Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic food
He believed in love and peace
And never wore no shoes
Long hair, beard and sandles
And a funky bunch of friends
Reckon we'd just nail him up
If he came down again
Chorus:
'Cause everybody's gotta have somebody to look down on
Who they can feel better than at any time they please
Someone doin' somethin' dirty decent folks can frown on
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me
Eggheads cussing rednecks cussing
Hippies for their hair
Others laugh at straights who laugh at
Freaks who laugh at squares
Some folks hate the Whites
Who hate the Blacks who hate the Klan
Most of us hate anything that
We don't understand
Chorus

(Kris Kristofferson)
