What are your favorite Dan Ratherisms?
v"He swept through the South like a tornado through a trailer park."

"Don't bet the trailer money yet."

There are many more of course.

1. "You talk about a ding-dong, knock-down, get-up race."
I watched Rather lose his shite on election night. It would have been funny, except for the whole coup thing.

8. I was horrified to see that
I mean, we were all upset at the time - the images from September 11 were still very raw - but I expected better from Rather. The weeping I could understand, but it was a blow to his professionalism when he said he would do anything for our unelected thieving piece of shit "president".

3. "No Mr. President....are you?"
When Nixon was President, during Watergate, he gave a press conference. Dan Rather was then covering the White House.

When Rather got up to ask a question, their was applause. Rather was very aggressive covering the White House.

After the applause died down, Nixon asked Rather "Are you running for something?"

To which Rather replied : "No Mr. President...are you"?

It was a bold, brazen comeback from one of the media to the President of the United States.

No newsman today, very sad to today, would never dare try such a thing with the current President.

4. "It's spandex tight."
The Dan I respected for standing up to Nixon went into full Texan drawl and mode on 11/7/2000 ... I couldn't stand listening to him.
:puke:

What's the Frequency, Dan? Election-night quotes of CBS anchor Dan Rather: "This presidential race is crackling like a hickory fire." "Bush has had a lead since the very start, but his lead is now shakier than cafeteria jello." " Al Gore may be as cross as a snapping turtle." "This thing is so wild, wacky and wooly, nobody knows how it's going to come out." "Now that will have the Bush people in Austin jumping out of their seats like they were stabbed with hatpins." "This much tension you can't cut with a saw, it requires a blowtorch." "The presidential race is still hotter than a Laredo parking lot." "It's spandex tight." "You'd have to say this thing is as tight as rusted lugnuts on a '55 Ford." "Al Gore's...got his back to the wall, his shirttail on fire and a bill collector's at the door, but he's not finished yet."

5. I didn't see the night when he walked off the set during his newscast
But that was most unprofessional behavior.

Another less than sterling moment...when George H.W. Bush got the better of Rather during an interview in 1988.

It has been rather (sorry about the pun) unfortunate to see how Dan Rather has become so sloppy in his reporting since he did stand up to Nixon.

15. I watched in horror
I was in Florida, of all places, the world was going crazy, and it appeared that someone slipped Dan Rather LSD in his coffee that night. What happened? And why wasn't it ever covered by the liberal media?

He was a lunatic.

6. "What's The Frequency, Kenneth" . . . music and lyrics by . . .
REM . . . hey, when it gets made into a rock song, ya gotta go with it . . . :yourock:

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh

I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, TV, movies, magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I couldn't understand
I never understood, don't fuck with me, uh-huh

14. My favorite is "Good Night."
Something about him just gives me the creeps. I usually watch Tom Blowchow if I do TV news. He's always good for a chuckle.
