Eagle fans - do you hear the ghosts?
It's that time again. All the Superbowl talk, and a chance for a cakewalk to the dance, but once again...ghosts.

Okay, Spurrier and you gutless Redskins. Put on a show next Saturday and defeat the birds, and...guess who could once again have their rightful place in the NFC east with a win in New Orleans next week? That's right!

Ghosts in Philly. The swagger is gone. History could once again be repeating itself.

1. Eagles will have a hard time now
Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 07:47 PM by TSIAS
It's hard to beat St. Louis at home.

I don't mind the Eagles, but I do have a problem with some of their fans.

Actually like the players. McNabb is a good fella. But the fans, well, that's another story.

3. I don't want to chastise the whole bunch
I just had a bad experience last week at the Monday night game. One of them, for no reason, struck me with a beer bottle. And then in the parking lot, some guy went on a rampage and tried to kill the Dolphins fans with his car.

5. Remember. This is the bunch who cheered when Irvin lay paralyzed
on the football field. I don't care how much you may dislike a player, that is downright sick. And of course, at the Vet, they had to have a jail to accomodate some of the more rowdy fans. And rowdy is an understatement.

The Philly fans for that. Totally classless. Did you hear the "Aikman Sucks" chanting going on today? Still sore about all those beatings the Cowboys gave them in the 90's I guess :)

34. Lynne has mentioned with glee that Irvin's career
ended at the Vet. Another Eagle fan (I can't recall who it was) called me a disruptor when I stated I was a Cowboy fan. Plus, there was the post a few weeks ago that started "how bout them Cowboys" after Philly's win last month. Not only that, another posted because I'm from Dallas I must be some sort of Bush supporter. And of course, the poll that was taken about the most evil sports franchises (Yankees and Cowboys), and the other poll which stated that Dallas was the most right wing city in the nation. Broad brushes, indeed.

Face it, people from the south (especially Texans and Dallasites) are not the most welcomed on this board. At least with all of the hatefulness that has been spouted towards them - both directly and indirectly.

39. Nowhere.
Usually I don't read crap like this. I got on you because you attacked LynneSin for, as I saw it, no good reason.

Why attack anyway? Just the need to hit back? IMO that's why this country still practices the barbarism of capital punishment.

Again: it's all over sport. :eyes:

To be fair, I'm not immune to sport hysteria. My team won the World Series in '02 and I thought I'd died & gone to heaven. But to attack or hate someone over things said about a team or a team's fans -- whoever does it, a Cowboys' fan or an Eagles' fan or anyone else -- is horsehsit. It's a waste of time, energy, and karma. It's a life-sucking drain. Hatred kills.

When someone is attacked for something like their allegiance to a team, or where they may live, I hope you show up. (again, where were you when I as an individual was attacked). Just remember, from now on, when something is attacked that is dear to me, whether it's football related or anything else, I will fight back. Or should us southerners just take it and "mind our station?"

By the way, where do you come from? Or am I not going to get the last word?

On edit - Lynne can take care of himself just fine.

They're taking care of business. Plus, they understand about winning championships. They're won in January (and this year, in February), not December. Don't try to explain that to an Eagles fan - he doesn't understand that concept in the least.

Very true about cold weather and the Bucs. But remember, Tampa was playing Philly, and we know how well Philly does in the post season.

Seriously, the Eagles are a very good football team. But if they have a few more post season let downs - well, they will be considered what my Cowboys were during the late sixties and early seventies - "Next year's champions."

How about those others who had the Eagles automatically going to Houston? What Eagle fans don't understand is that you have to win throughout in the "tournament" to get to the big game. And seeing Philly's penchant for, er, choking, their fans don't quite seem to understand that concept.

I guess our Eagle fans are getting bailed out of jail this morning by their moms and dads after an all-night bender. I'm sure they'll be back in their parents' basements this morning in front of their computers to show their false bravado to the rest of us.

Last I checked it was just a regular season game. And we're still a game ahead of your cowsissies.

We'll be fine in the playoffs. Too long of a winning streak makes me nervous. I'd rather they lose now so they can start another 4 game winning streak - if you know what I mean :D

26. Well, when you consider the importance of home field
And Philly is really relying on it this year. This lose yesterday is not going to help their chances. And with their post season loses the last two years, the Eagles must be feeling pretty let down right now.

Maybe it was a wake up call. They were getting a little too cocky. Time will tell.

28. Hey, there's a difference here. (Oh, by the way, good morning, sunshine)
No expectations were placed on the Cowboys this year. Many were once again predicting five or six wins. It's weird for a Cowboy fan to say this (I mean, with five Superbowl trophies at Valley Ranch), but I'm happy with just the appearance.

Dallas is on the way up. It's not going to happen this year, but this season is a good building block. Philly is supposed to be one of the favorites for the Lombardi. And if your Eagles choke again, they could very well be on their way down.

They haven't had a decent QB since Norm Van Brocklin, although Sonny Jurgensen was good for a year or two and Ron Jaworski played good for a while. But McNabb didn't impress me when he was at Syracuse and I don't believe he'll lead the Eagles to the promised land.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but McNabb is a very good qb. But you may be right - he may not have all the tools to lead them to win the big game. This is his third chance to do it. If he doesn't do it now, it may reflect badly on him.
