Needin' some good karma....got a job interview this A.M.

....it's been quite awhile since I've been employed...and I'm really feelin' like a hypocrite as the interview is for a receptionist position for a pair of Dentists....and I swore I'd never work for doctors ever again...but heh beggars can't be choosers....these guys are repukes o'course...a friend o'mine already works there and told me how they quit takin' Medicaid and won't take anymore Medicare patients....*SIGH*...sooooooo this flies in the face of everything I believe in...as an employee though they give free dental care which I surely could benefit from....I'm extremely nervous and extremely skeptical of my ability to keep my personal beliefs to m'self as I am not good at going along to get along...I've NEVER been good at bein' an ASS KISSER either....but I need this job and need the money too as I want to end my dependacy on my SO....so if ya'll would send me some good vibes and karma and any advice today I appreciate it...gonna need it I imagine! x(

be sure to compliment them on their dental practice. do you know any of their patients? it always helps if you do.

also, consider the interview and subsequent job as opposition research! you'll have to fill us in on the rightwing dentists' shenanigans, you know!

I know that may sound stupid, but here's what I mean:

When a person is nervous or upset, they tend to hold their breath. Of course, that doesn't help the old cerebrial cortex any! Make sure you are taking slow, even breaths. It will lower your blood pressure and help you remain calm (well, calmer; I've used this technique when going to job interviews and still remain a little bit nervous!).

Finally, pray that if this job is going to help you or help others, that you get it. If it is not the job for you, that such a job will come along. Put it in the hands of the One, and then try to relax about it. Indifference can help loosen you up inside and the whole experience won't be as traumatic as it would otherwise.

Free dental care is a definite asset that could outweigh having to work for the Repugs.

I have to leave for a job interview in about 1/2 an hour. Fortunately for me, mine is at the headquarters of a non-profit organization here in town. (http://www.sunshine.ca) It's all about helping handicapped kids, and I'm all about giving back...I think I've used the services of every local agency that provides such things at least once before I turned 18! My cerebral palsy will either be a benefit or a down-check here; I don't think it'll be neutral.

Anyway, I'm sorry yours isn't quite so much of a "dream job" as mine, but as you said, beggars can't be choosers. This is the only real job interview I've gotten (except for one quasi-scam one) since I was laid off in mid-October.
