Mona Lisa Smile - Dead Poets' Society Sans D@*ks
OK. I get that it's a genre piece - but can we try a bit of variation, for God's sake?

First of all, Dead Poets' Society was bad enough, what with the comical ending in which they all conform in their non-conformity.

The twist - that it's a woman at a woman's school - does not a new story make, so we just see the same old tired cliches played out again.

Quite frankly, I don't even get the mania for locating these damn movies in the elite private schools of the 1950's - unless it is to show us "how far we've come" - which strikes me as little more than a way of NOT showing how much more we need to do.

Jeez. I thought Julia Roberts would have picked something better than this trash.

1. Is it even a close resemblence to Wellesley in the 1950's?
Maybe we can ask Madeline Albright since she was there. Oh wait, she was the higehst ranking woman in US gov't history. I guess she knows her place.

After "Pretty Woman", I've avoided evrything with slinky-neck Roberts in it like the plague.
