Pet odor advice...
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 05:19 PM by petersond
I have a male pom, and sometimes pisses on the lower portion of our couch...I have tried steam cleaning with a bit of the generic febreeze, and I have also used some generic foam carpet cleaner, but the smell still persists...so, is there any suggestions on what to use? Besides throwing our couch away...Thanks.

1. Try oxyclean in the steam cleaner.

2. There are two decent products out there
One is called Urine Gone, and there's another called Zero Odor Pet (both are available online). The Urine Gone comes with a black light so you can see the stain. Good luck!

5. Nature's Miracle
Most pet supply stores should have it. Good luck! (We have four cats and one gets a little territorial at times, so I can sympathize, believe me...)

6. thanks, I'll give it a try...
I got a list now, and if 1 dont' work, I'll just go down the list...but if it works on cat piss, I'm sure the dog pee won't be a problem...

13. enzyme cleaner
nature's miracle is one kind, but that usually sells at pet supply stores and is way overpriced. you can get just basic enzymatic cleaners for around $3.00. We sell them where I work but they might even sell them at places like K-mart or Walmart. Or try a janitorial supply business.

4. put a little simple green in the steam cleaner
it got the pee smell out of the carpet when my kid was potty training ignoring, and it gets nasty built up pee smell out of cloth diapers, so I assume it'd work on a sofa.

7. Nature's Miracle worked for us...
It's available in most pet stores. The best thing about it was that the cats stopped pissing on the floors (we treated the entire house) and started using the litter box.

10. I got this stuff at the Vet's office...and it works great...it's called:
EVSCO, The Equalizer Carpet Stain and Odor Eliminator.

It works great!

11. Put some vinegar water in the steamer.
The vinegar should neutralize the urine.

12. peroxide
The only thing I ever found to work on cat urine, even having tried the $100/gal enzyme cleaners.
