A safety warning for cat owners: my chair could have killed mine today
You know how kids sometimes get their heads stuck between slats in their cribs and suffocate? What could have been a similar situation took place with my cat today. I had just snapped a photo (see below) of him sitting in a rocking chair. He stuck his head through the slats, then laid down on his side. That trapped him because the space between the slats narrows on the lower part of the chair. He was unable to breathe or stand up.

I was able lift him out in time, but shudder to think what might have happened if I hadn't been home and witnessed what a danger that chair is for him.

The second photo shows he's a photography fan.

3. The same exact thing happened to my kitty when she was young.
I was right there and slid her head up and out. Her first reaction was to pull her head straight back. She really could have choked or done some serious damage to herself. :scared:

4. At first my cat tried to pull his head out, too...
I was so busy snapping pictures, I didn't realize he was stuck. Then he stopped moving and his eyes went glassy and I realized I had an emergency on my hands. A big ol' pillow is going on that chair till he's bigger. Just a kitten now.
