Just because that's why

I love garage rock. I love the whole blues deconstruction thing. But there are just billions of better bands than the White Stripes in both genres. The New Bomb Turks, The Rip Offs, Supercharger, the Drags, The Mono Men, the Mummies, John Spencer Blues Explosion, Doo Rag, Flat Duo Jets....all of these bands do the same shtick 1000 times better in my opinion than the White Stripes. I like that such an odd band got as big as they did, but it strikes me that if they didn't have their non musical gimmicks (the clothes, the whole brother/sister thing) that they would not have gotten as big as they did.

What are you going to do though. People like what they like.
