What has Joy Division contributed to your life?
Anyone who has heard their music, even Substance or Permanent, has been changed in one way or another by them...irrevokably.

1. Our band used to cover "Warsaw" in its infancy, as we all knew it.
Later, we slowed it down, sang it with a metal falsetto, and played the opening and ending of a Black Sabbath song for a masterpiece we called "Warsaw Pigs."

"Love Will Tear Us Apart."

However, that one song would make my list of top five, and maybe top three, favorite songs of all time. I can't get enough of it. The contrast of the lilting instrumentals in the background with the lead singer's depressing, deadpan lyrics just "gets" to me every time.

That song instantly brings back the excitement of being in college in the mid-80s, and evokes that time and place in such a breathtaking way.
