Need some friendly Lounge advice -------------->
Hi All...

I'm probably going to have to take a drug test (via hair) in the next week or two, and lets just say its not the best time for it.
I hear traces can be detected for up to 6 months in the hair.

I indulge maybe 3 times a month, in my house, on the weekend,
when I am going to watch a particularly good movie, or do some gaming. Last time - 3 weeks ago (watched Sin City :) )

Anyway...

My company does not require us to be tested, but I'm a consultant, and I'm rolling onto a project where the client wants everyone tested.

Any suggestions?

The following thoughts crossed my mind:

1. Buy some of that hair shampoo and hope for the best. I don't know if this stuff actually works on beating a hair drug test (which I understand is hard to beat). If I fail, I won't be placed on this particular project, but the Employee Handbook states I could be disciplined and any findings go into my medical record. This may not be a cause for dismissal.

2. Refuse on intrusion of privacy grounds and / or irony. Irony in that its a pharmaceutical firm requiring I get tested for drugs.

3. Confide in my boss who is pretty liberal/probably understanding and ask him to place me on another project.

4. Feign sickness / family emergency / need to be out of state for 2 weeks and hope they reallocate me.

Thanks!

:hippie:

5. Thought about shaving my head...
But it also is in body hair. I guess I could claim I'm on a swim team now, but... :)

WindRaven - He doesn't know, but I could confide in him...I'd just hate to have this out there... Sucks to have to give it up, while the asshole who make these policies enjoy their martinis and scotch.

Floogeldy - I'm leaning to the "Fuck Off" camp and that its my own business. Like benny said - unless its an issue in performance its none of your business. (and its not with *my* company...I'm asked to be on projects and I get great reviews).

Grrrr....

2. Personally...
...I'd take #3. Does your boss know you like the ganj? If he does and he understands, just talk to him.

Sorry to hear about this-- it sucks. I have to quit smoking my lovely herb next semester because many of the positions I am applying for require a drug test

3. Memorize this phrase:
"Fuck off." Either that or bow down to your clients and every other corporate fascist that wants to pry into your personal chemistry.

Or, on the other hand, if it is worth it to you, tow the bullshit popular moralistic line.

The decision is yours.

The life that is your Earth could be reduced to a burned out cinder.

4. Take Tylenol
I hear that Tylenol often trips up drug tests if you have taken enuff of it.

I'm not into companies who drug test ahead. To me, it doesn't display a level of trust. If someone is not performing well, they should ask the person to seek counseling if need be first.
