I'm sick of the "Jesus Camp " ads at the top of the page. When
does their paid ad run out or do I have to disable the ads. Enough already. Please tell me their money is about used up. It gives me the creeps. I don't want someone else to peddle their religion to me, movie or not.

1. I know what you mean. I support the movie and all, and think it
should be seen and dicussed. I ALWAYS support criticism of whacked-out freaks. But the ads make me sick to my stomach and I'm tired of seeing them.

2. Is it really THAT hard to just turn off the ads?
How many threads have there been whining about that damn ad?

16. *pthlblthlbt!*
Yeah, I finally "saw the light" w/regard to turning off the ad, but I also authored a major whiny thread about them. The whiniest! Ever!

:P Praise be, I'm much happier now. LOL!

3. Options:
Display Google ads?
Selecting "no" will turn off Google ads

5. And done!
Thanks.

Unfortunately, the non-donors still have to see this. :(

7. Well, they could use Firefox and AdBlock.
 I like my internets as ad-free as I can get them, and AdBlock is a (sorry, I have to say it) god-send for that.

4. Seriously. Someone take that DAMNED thing down.
No, I don't think you're weird, little girl, but I think your parents suck.

The only reason I'd pay to see that movie is for a good laugh. Unfortunately, I'd probably be politely asked to leave by the thousands of Crapture-right fundies that are most likely going to be in the audience. Then riots and flying crosses would ensue.

6. Oh, I thought it was actually criticizing fundie-camps. Am I wrong?
I mean, I agree I'm sick of the ads but I was glad the movie was made. Unless you're right about it.

8. It is not pro-fundie. It's worth seeing.
The filmmakers try to be subtle about it, but there's nothing subtle about brainwashing little kids. The nutballs rightly come off as dangerous loons in the movie--and I think every blue-state liberal should see it.

9. It's actually supposed to be pretty even-handed in its presentation...
Not really "pro" or "con". Though, I suppose not skewering them at every chance is a travesty to some people around here.

10. well, not really.
I've seen it. The way the filmmakers set the film up with Mike Papantonio as the voice-of-reason balance to the fundies, it's clear they want to show just how extreme these people are.

And by the way--and I say this as a Christian--these people are dangerous. Let them be skewered here; they need to be stopped before they completely take over the government. That is no tinfoil hat thing, either--it's their stated desire.

15. I take the Crapture Rightists VERY seriously . . .
. . . especially when they try to nuke the line between church and state. I'm an Ohioan, and we have someone trying to pull that here (Blackwell) and he makes no bones about doing just that. He's a firm believer that God should be in the State House. Fortunately, barring Diebold and the ensuing riots resulting from obvious vote fixing, he's going to flop in a massive way, being down to Strickland by a couple dozen percentage points.

But yes, they should in no way be allowed to indoctrinate their beliefs in American politics. Doesn't say "One Nation Under God" in the National Archive, last I checked.

14. At first glance, the way it's presented . . .
gives the impression it's pro-fundie ("a revolution is happening!") and extolls the virtues of bein' SAVED! Plus I've seen it being hawked on ABC's Good Morning America more than a few times. That alone, with GMA's propaganda news, made me kind of weary of this film.

Now that I know it's from Magnolia, which also made the astounding World's Fastest Indian, it might be worth a look.

13. I never even noticed the ads until someone else pointed them out.
Unless ads are pop-ups, I'm easily able to tune them out.
