1. Most complaints I've heard about cats
fall into the "too aloof, too independent" variety. Some (dog) people think cats are emotionally cold creatures.

Nothing could be further from the truth. :loveya:

2. I'm allergic and don't like having my arm sliced open while playing.
Since de-clawing is inhumane, I'm going to have to stay away from the little bastards, even though they are pretty cute.

20. I understand the allergies, but
you can do things short of declawing to make sure they don't rip your arm apart.

My cats wear "soft paws"...which is a little plastic cap over their claws, applied much like a fake fingernail.

No more ripping up furniture...and I haven't had a cat scratch from either one of them EVER.

3. other
I just don't like the look of cats, they look...well, just not for me. Plus, I have had numerous bad experiences with cats, and will never get one, even if the fate of the world rests on me, owning a cat...sorry folks.

5. That's alright!
Experiences cause us all to have almost instinctual responses.

:hi:

7. my last bad experience
was my friend Waldo's cat, was on the table, and I picked the cat up to place it on the floor, and its back foot smacked me in my right cheek, and its claw dug into my face...I had to rip the claw out of my face, and in doing so, a part of my face came off too...

4. People tell me they don't like cats because they are mean...
but, I've truly never met a mean cat! They may be out there...but it hasn't been my experience.

6. Well, a hungry and homeless cat
is a mean cat sometimes, but the same could be said for humans!

12. Midnight used to be a really mean cat towards humans (except me).
Then she got lost in a blizzard for two weeks and came back friendly. Some people have a near death experience and find Jesus. She had a near-death experience and found people. She still really hates other animals though. The other pets just know to stay away.

21. Hehe!
That's too funny. I actually have a similar experience with my cat. He's 16 and has always been a bit anti-social (except he's very talkative and answers whenever he's spoken to) being very independant, but then he got terminal cancer three years ago and started to love me. I can't shake him now, he follows me everywhere like a dog.

can sense evil.

So with these 3, I'm sure the feeling was mutual.

15. too independent...
Any pet that I'm feeding, taking to the vet, sheltering, paying attention to, BETTER be prepared to fetch, go on a run with me, go camping, and guard the family while I'm away. That's a fair deal.

Alas, my daughter has one but at least it is smart enought to stay out of my way. Maybe it hears me joking with my daughter that we should take the cat "shark fishing" sometimes. :)

23. Allergic - but I've got meds for when I visit my parents.
I can usually withstand their kitties for a good 3 or 4 days.

Their black'n'white kitty is the best. Very shy and scared of everybody because her previous owners were very abusive, but very adorable to mum and dad. She'll even come upstairs when I'm there, though she is still often afraid if I get too close (30 feet).

I should dig up one of my favorite pics where she's peeking from behind an end table...

30. I'm a vegan and I have a cat
Granted, I'd had her for several years before I went veg, but I love my kitty, and I wasn't going to get rid of her for that. She's a sweetie, a tad skittish around strangers, very cuddly, very vocal, and very clever. She also insists on being an only cat.

One of her tricks is when my boyfriend stays over. She'll hop on the bed, walk on to my boyfriend, stand on his chest and give one sharp meow in his face. He says that she's especially vocal early in the morning.

Just can't stand the smell of a house with a cat in residence.

Cats don't take crap from anybody. And there are people who are offended at the idea that a 10-lb. animal can be so uppity as to refuse to obey them or fawn over them.

My spouse is a dog person, I am a kitty person. I understand dogs as much as my spouse does, but my spouse doesn't understand that kitties adopt us.
