I am obsessed with the "Nuggets" Box Sets.
Both volume 1 & 2- but especially volume 1. I dont know it took me so long to get these...

The phrase "punk rock" (with a small p) was popularized by the original release of the Nuggets set in 1972. Apparently is was on all the Punk & "New-Wavers" to be turn tables, and they co-opted the term.

Hey- most of these tracks are in the original mono too- a real treat!

This stuff makes me wish I was 16 and in a band again- boy if I had these back in the day...

EVERYONE who digs the do-it-your-self "punk" ethic in music needs to buy these and listen while pouring over the liner notes.

Discuss.

1. Me too, all of 'em.... and see if you can score....
these....

On the howlin' heels of our acclaimed Sonics and Wailers sets, Norton Northwest continues the onslaught with three mammoth volumes of rare and unissued sixties monsters from the top left corner of the USA that rewrite the history of rock n' roll! This 1960-66 threesome is culled entirely from the vaults of Kearney Barton's Audio Recording Studios in Seattle and brings together 61 roarin' tracks - 51 of 'em unissued!!

...amazing...

3. Obviously I am soon to graduate to the other comps- thanks!!!
I'll keep an eye out- I go to a killer record store that carries a lot of those Garage/sike etc comps.

I am also interested in the Pebbles collection, which is still printed on vinyl, no less.

4. 2 is not as raw in places- but still very cool & worthwhile...
I would say it covers more of the psychedelic end of things (it is moslty British stuff)- but the raw "freak-beat" stuff is represented as well...

I highly reccommend you get it next payday- you wont be sorry...

10. They are indeed very cool

So many great songs. I have a lot of the Pebbles and Highs in the Mid Sixties albums on vinyl, and I'm really glad they released these on CD so people could be exposed to these bands.

I was just listening to the Mockingbirds' "You Stole My Love" the other day. Graham Gouldman wrote a ton of great songs for the Yardbirds, etc., but never really hit it big with his own band for some reason (until 10cc).

11. Check out "Tally Man" by Jeff Beck- one of Gouldman's best...

And one of the few Jeff Beck vocals as well...

You can get it off the Beckology Box set on I-Tunes for .99 cents...

I also want some of the Pebbles & Rubbles, etc...I may get the CDS as opposed to the LPs, just b/c they are cheaper (I am a vinyl buff as well)...

Great to see that DU has people in the know about the good stuff...
