Men - do you enjoy being called "sweetheart" by strippers?

I've had this happen twice this week. They were both complete strangers and weren't in the throws of a lap-dance or anything. Well one was but that isn't important now. It was used like someone would use "stud" or "hot, sweaty, cabana-boy of my dreams". And they weren't southern and this is not the south.

So I started wondering - why do so many strippers do this? Do they think men enjoy it? Are there men who do enjoy it? I know there are men who put up with it whilst mere INCHES from a white thong and garter, or laugh it off as they are holding a dollar bill in their teeth waiting to be snatched up, but are there any who actually consider it a compliment of sorts?

cause you know i've built at least somewhat of a relationship with them and they know me, so i'm comfortable with it.

but if it's a new girl, or just a girl that i don't hire for dances that often, then i don't like it anymore than i would if they called me "stud" or "hot piece of meat," and shoving discreet parts of their anatomy in my face doesn't make it any better. wait. yes it does.

No, I don't like endearments or whatever they're called from people who know me, much less acquaintances. Don't know about strippers, but bartenders and coctail waitresses & various other employees used to do that when I was a bartender at a casino, and it really annoyed me.

Now I've quit being bitchy......

I was a sex worker... OK whore.... I was often very affectionate to my clients. Because they were deserving of it - cash could be gotten a lot easier. And I honestly liked and cared about them.

Sometimes it''s just pro forma. Niceness for niceness sake - hell, they were paying my bills! Professional good manners.


Compliment? Maybe/ Maybe not. You are only asking half the question, what you think. Why not ask ask her? Some things are simply cultural. Brits calling people "luv", Southerners calling people "sweetheart" or some such.

Maybe it's just being polite, but try asking your stripper..... we sex workers are actually people and despite the common idea that we are only interested in money, we often do become emotionally attached to our clients.

It hit one of my nerves and started a rant. (I'm a little defensive lately about having been a whore because some people -no one here- have made it clear they think it makes me less than human,)

It did seem odd to me, though. All the time I was typing it I kept thinking "this is so not matcom" and "with Mrs.matcom at home, who needs anything else?".

I should pay more attention and go with my gut instincts. And be a little less quick to start lecturing people.

Many people presume they know, and say much. Few people know much, yet they say little. :shrug:

Blue-collar workers and men at the low end of the social scale are very likely to call a woman "love" or "sweetheart." It is not meant to be patronising, it's just a word that they use. For that matter, a woman would call a man "love" also. It seems offensive because maybe some of us move in different social circles?

Class does effect the way people speak.

I can barely imagine a cabbie not saying "where you wanna go, luv?" or the queen using "luv" in a sentence.

Class plays into it as does regional difference/ race/ gender/ education/ even sexual orientation..... even when we speak the same language we speak different languages.

Which can be incredibly cool - if you let it be.
