3. Good morning!
I just added a second photo between the first and third to show him in mid-pursuit of Orange Silk String.

Yes, he can be quite the hunter, but we've raised the bird-feeder two feet higher to make "the hunt" bit more challenging for him. ;)

6. Thats the only thing i hate about kitties
But they are predators by nature.
My cats are indoor only so all they get to kill are a few flys

8. We try to discourage killing of other animals, for sure.
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 04:44 AM by Heidi
But Ginger has been an indoor/outdoor cat since he came to live with us, and it would be impossible to keep him indoors now that he's nearly six years old. But we plan for our next kitties to be indoors cats. I think it's healthier for the cat and better for nature. :hi:

She is learning not to get on the kitchen table but she is testing me.

She gives me I am the cat look now.

12. Well, I'll tell ya a little secret . . .
Ginger doesn't often climb up on our kitchen bar, but when he does, it's to try to open the fridge to get roast beef, so I just give him some roast beef and then let him sit there. Then I wipe the whole bar down with antibacterial spray. It's easier than fighting with my cat.

I think I could have a cat here. But the thing is I am gone so often over the weekend that it would be unfair to the kitten. And for two kittens is the apt. too small. So I wait a bit more. But I will have another cat sooner or later.

The photos really are misleading. Ginger's a big lover, and he especially loves women who visit us in the summer: he'll lick the lotion right off of their bare legs. Our boy's quite the Casanova. :eyes:

but he has recurring problems with crystals building up in his urinary tract. His doc says roast-beef is OK, but we've had to cut back on fish and chicken cat foods because they're "too white" and he's on a prescription dry cat food now since his last peeing-blood situation a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you for your kind words about our boy, KC2. CMW and I don't have kids, and we really love and dote on The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger.

63. Auxiliary Kitty
has taken over. She bullies poor Minnie so that Minnie hides under a chair all day. This is a dramatic difference, considering that before she used to lie ON the chair all day. When I go out of my way to pet Minnie, Amber will sneak up and attack her, and when I chase Amber away, she lies a few feet off and watches Minnie, swishing her tail angrily. If I turn my attention elsewhere, she will lunge at Minnie until Minnie leaves or I bat Amber away.

I have no idea what goes on while I'm gone, of course.

The kids are wonderful. The youngest and I rode bikes all day today. I have a trailercycle, so we rode about fifteen miles. The oldest is becoming a teenager, and is less nearby than before, though she hasn't completely rejected parental company yet. This weekend she had a friend over. The friend is named Amber. That got confusing and amusing at times. "Amber, get off that!" sometimes resulted in one Amber jumping off the counter and the other off the couch.

64. Poor Minnie.
It seems younger cats belief it's their job to torment older cats. :(

I'm glad all is well with your girls. CMW and I have been feeling a bit forlorn because our 12- and 14-year-old goddaughters/nieces (who live across the street from us) apparently grew up this summer, discovered boys and much less present than they were just six months ago. But the young one, Luisa, was here much of Saturday afternoon, selecting 60s and 70s music from our collection for some CDs she wants us to make for her. Surprisingly, she knew all the lyrics to "Take A Walk on the Wild Side." We've no idea why or how, but there it is. :P

66. My 13 year old
has discovered boys, but has not become completely obsessed yet. ANd she, too, likes old rock. She's a big Aerosmith fan, and wears Jimi Hendrix tee shirts. Oddly, I try to get her to listen to hip-hop and R & B, with little luck. The old stuff is old to me, but new to her. Odd generational gap going on there. Though I know she first got into old rock because of things I said when she was younger.

Minnie is particularly prone to being bullied. She is a jealous bully herself around kittens, until the other cat can fight back. Then she's a coward. This is the third kitten she's had to adjust to, and it's been the same pattern each time.
