Nice! I'd forgotten how kick-ass EW&F is!
The thread about Beatles covers reminded me of Earth, Wind, and Fire and their cover of "Got To Get You Into My Life," which is really very excellent. So I dug out The Best of Earth, Wind, and Fire: Volume 1, my only EWF CD, which has "Got To Get You Into My Life" as the first track.

This music is officially addicting.

:D

Funny thing is, at this time last year, this was literally the only CD I would listen to while I was writing my now-completed novel. (That was before I fell in love with Steely Dan...Now all I ever listen to while writing is Aja. :evilgrin:) For some reason the music is just perfect for writing to--very energizing and positive, but also lush and soulful.

"Back then" (:rofl:) I knew the album cold, which is important when selecting background music for writing, at least IMHO. You can't be distracted by the music...It has to be a part of you, something you can get into a groove with, something you already know and can connect to other times of creative outburst....Yadda, yadda, yadda.

So rediscovering it after about an 8-month dry spell has been a real treat tonight.

"I love love music.... That's my kind of music.....It's the sweetest music, and the only music for me...."

:bounce::bounce:

The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Volume 1 (Columbia)

Track Listing:

1. "Got To Get You Into My Life"
2. "Fantasy"
3. "Can't Hide Love"
4. "Love Music"
5. "Getaway"
6. "That's the Way of the World"
7. "September"
8. "Shining Star"
9. "Reasons"
10. "Singasong"

Just. Fucking. Excellent.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

1. What, is EWF on the outs now, too?
Geesh.....Steely Dan AND EWF on the outs....I'm really fucking doomed, aren't I? Maybe I should just go buy a Kenny G album and get it over with... (JOKING!)

:P :P

2. I think the problem is, it's not one of the groups you're used to seeing

abbreviated. Kind of like Sly and The Family Stone. So the thread didn't really catch anyones eye... like it was a copycat or something.

4. You need more than that. Get a 2-CD set or the box set.
I've been thinking of buying all of the albums, anyway.

5. If you like EWF. you'll like this one
A couple years ago Chicago toured with EWF. If anything was a natural fit between two bands, this was it. The concert is available on DVD

6. This concert I went to in tenth grade.....
Opened with ZZ Top, the first time they played in Cleveland....

Then Earth Wind and Fire....

And then, Uriah Heep.... A glam heavy metal pretentious mess of a band that had a few good song....

They were really upstaged by both acts that came preceded them on stage...
