The thread about Beatles covers reminded me of Earth, Wind, and Fire and their cover of "Got To Get You Into My Life," which is really very excellent. So I dug out The Best of Earth, Wind, and Fire: Volume 1, my only EWF CD, which has "Got To Get You Into My Life" as the first track.
This music is officially addicting.
:D
Funny thing is, at this time last year, this was literally the only CD I would listen to while I was writing my now-completed novel. (That was before I fell in love with Steely Dan...Now all I ever listen to while writing is Aja.) For some reason the music is just perfect for writing to--very energizing and positive, but also lush and soulful.
"Back then" () I knew the album cold, which is important when selecting background music for writing, at least IMHO. You can't be distracted by the music...It has to be a part of you, something you can get into a groove with, something you already know and can connect to other times of creative outburst....Yadda, yadda, yadda.
So rediscovering it after about an 8-month dry spell has been a real treat tonight.
"I love love music.... That's my kind of music.....It's the sweetest music, and the only music for me...."
