Peeing in the parking lot
Was in the Costco parking lot yesterday and watched as the woman who had just parked in the space opposite me got out of her car, took her maybe 2 or 3-year-old boy out of the back seat, set him down on the pavement, pulled his pants down and waited patiently while the kid worked up the energy to take a leak, which he eventually did. Then they headed into the store.

I wasn't sure what to think about this. Parents out there, is this common and accepted practice?

1. Funny I had to stop my buddy from doing that just the other day

I convinced him that he could make it to the clubhouse.

No I think that is not normal

2. When my kid was 3 1/2, I had him piss on the Wal Mart parking lot.
Yeah, don't ask me why we were at that shit store either (I waited in the car, as I didn't go in). We were parked at least a 1/4 mile away and there was no time for him to make it to the bathroom. No one saw him, so I did the white trash thing and had him get out and aim for underneath the car. Much better than than having to change wet pants.

3. little kids don't have the same awesome level of bladder control that
we adults do. I tried to be more discreet about it with Ian when he was that young, but sometimes it wasn't possible.

4. When my daughter started her first day of first grade
her little brother peed on the tree next to the bus stop.

She was mortified and hasn't forgiven him nine years later.

7. at least she will have something to remember
I cannot remember anything from first grade. I wonder how much of it I remembered when I was 15.

Oh wait, I do remember my first recess, that was probably first grade. They let us out and I started to go home, thinking school was over, but I stayed around talking to somebody and then climbed a little ways up a tree on the corner of the playground. Then a bell rang and everybody started to go back in. I was like wtf? I thought school was over.

5. Not common, IMO, but sometimes necessary.
Try as I might to remember the "Go potty before we go" mantra when BabyG and WannaBe were smaller, sometimes I forgot. The one time we made an emergency "pit stop" it ws not in the middle of a parking lot though.

6. It's okay, I do it...
I'm the president of Parking Lot Pissers of America. I encourage you to do what mother nature intended, to pee freely. Holding it too long can have serious health consequences. For the sake of your and your childrens' health, I urge all forward thinking Americans to go with the flow.

12. Well it was kind of a semi-smart assed comment actually
so never mind.

But you know now that I think about it, where I come from, standing next to your rig in a parking lot and taking a leak (usually but not always late at night and after way too many Jack and Cokes)) is a guy thing that transcends age, race, and sexual orientation and it's something that we ought to pick up on our own.

I'm not sure that the kid's mother should have been involved in this very male ritual even at that tender age. Kid should have just said, "Mom, I gotta drain the dragon here. You go ahead and I'll meet ya inside." The fact that Costco has restrooms is not really germane to the issue in this case.

10. If the kid gotta go....
he gotta go.

It's odd that she picked a parking lot.

Does the store not have bathrooms?

15. I knew a disabled man who was like that
When he said "I gotta go" it meant the pee was travelling down his urethra.

16. Absolutely

A little pee on the ground in a parking lot compared to wet pants, wet underwear, wet shoes, and probably a rash? I doubt that any parent would disagree with this practice.
