4. Remember this one?
Her parents never took the young girl to church...
Never spoke of His name...
Never read her His word...
Two non-believers walking lost in this world...
Took their baby with them, what a sad little girl...

Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs...
Never wanted to play or give kisses and hugs...
She'd watch the tv and sit there on the couch...
While her mom fell asleep and her daddy went out...

And the drinking and the fighting...
Just got worse every night...
Behind their couch she'd be hiding...
Oh what a sad little life...

And like it always does, the bad just got worse...
With every slap and every curse...
Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night...
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life...

And some people from the city took the girl far away...
To a new mom and a new dad, kisses and hugs everyday...

Her first day of Sunday School...
Her teacher walked in...
And a small little girl starred at a picture of Him...
She said I know that man up there on that cross...
I don’t know His name but I know he got off...
Cause he was there in my old house...
And held me close to his side...
As I hid there behind our couch...
The night that my parents died.

the way the song paints non believers as abusive. In my experience, a lot of abusers go to church.

30. not to brag or nuttin' but....
Hungry Eyes
Eric Carmen

I've been meaning to tell you
I've got this feelin' that won't subside
I look at you and I fantasize
Darlin' tonight
Now I've got you in my sights

CHORUS:
With these hungry eyes
One look at you and I can't disguise
I've got hungry eyes
I feel the magic between you and I

I want to hold you so hear me out
I want to show you what love's all about
Darlin' tonight
Now I've got you in my sights

CHORUS

Now I've got you in my sights
With these hungry eyes
Now did I take you by surprise
I need you to see
This love was meant to be

Thankfully most radio stations that were playing that damn "Unfaithful?" song have recently taken it out of constant rotation because every time I heard it I wanted to be a murderer.

22. Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, and Phil Collins ballads
All of 'em made my flesh crawl. And the radio stations would play them over...and over...and over...and over. (Richie's was "Penny Lover" "Truly" and "Still"; Rogers was "I Don't Need You" and "Lady"; Collins was "One More Night.")

God, I'm grinding my teeth right now thinking about 'em.

26. "Baby Baby"
by Amy Grant :puke:

also "Every Heartbeat" by Amy Grant,
that stupid Tony Orlando & Dawn song about an oak tree,
the song with the chorus that goes "did you ever know that you're my hero", don't know the title or artist,
that Bette Midler song with the chorus that repeats "God is watching us" over and over.

:puke:

I've been known to react violently upon hearing such songs. No radio is safe from my righteous anger when desecrated by such musical blasphemy, etc etc etc.

32. Oh....my....god.....
I hate...hate...hate the "Wind Beneath my Wings." It is the uttermost peak of Crap Ridge. It is so bad. The very first line offends my sense of anything good.

It must have been cold there in my shadow,

What the--? If I (or anyone) were just to, I dunno, say to a friend, relative or even familiar acquaintance, "It must have been cold there in my shadow," as if the unimaginable greatness that is me is so awesome as to absolutely eclipse....the....sun...oh yeah, it goes on the say:

and never have sunlight on your face

okay. The point of the song is the sun has been eclipsed by the magnitude of the speaker.

you were content to let me shine

(Well, since there wasn't any sun getting through...)

There's something just so unconsciously belittling about that song that I can't see how people even listen once the words sink in.

33. "Hollaback Girl"
I have a quite high tolerance for music most people consider horrible (I *love* all those hit "story songs" from the early seventies, for example) but "HG" is perhaps the only song that annoys me to such an extent that it makes me angry. There's just something really messed-up when one of No Doubt's greatest songs (IMHO at least) "Simple Kind of Life" was only a moderate hit but "Hollaback Girl" was in the Top Ten of the most successful songs of '05. And how Gwen Stefani's solo career is given more credit by the critics than her former band ever was. And I don't even like No Doubt all that much...

Oh yeah, I should also add anything by "Johnny Reb." One of my friends in high school was a racist FReeper-type and made me listen to some of this shit once. ("Yeah, it's racist, man, but it's so f*ckin' funny, you won't even notice...") Nasty racist sentiments set to uninteresting hillbilly music. Occasionally I find some of this stuff interesting for the historical value, but this stuff was just over-the-line disgusting.

That song sounds like the worst of the worst of 80's hair metal power ballads.

Honorable mention to "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt, which is so bad it made me laugh out loud.
