Should I make life hard for the Campus Crusade again?
As I just posted in GD a few minutes ago:

So, the campus crusade is bringing in a "scientist" to argue why Intelligent Design is real and good science and why it should be taught in schools.

Supposedly, it's a question and answer session. I've been a good girl so far this year and have not harassed the Campus Crusade (unlike last year when I put up signs exposing one of their deceptive ad campaigns). Should I go and ask questions? Any ideas for questions?

1. The best way to fight speech is with more speech!
The Campus Crusaders at my university had this campaign called "I agree with Steve and Joe."

They put up all these posters and other things with just those words and phony smiling pictures of random people.

They went through the trouble of creating a new, ambiguous club to fund and put the posters up.

Then, they announced a super-fun meeting to reveal what Steve and Joe actually believe.

But - before they did - a few enterprising students made their own posters and put them everywhere.

"I agree with Steve and Joe. Gay marriage is a wonderful thing." with pictures of happy, regular gay people.

True Story. Of course, it didn't take much for the swarm of Crusaders to take those pictures down.

11. Nothing says evangelism
Nothing says evangelism like underhanded attempts to manipulate the masses. At least, that's what my experience with Kampus Krusade for Khrist taught me. It's almost like they're ashamed of their message, with all the sneaky scams they come up with to push it.

4. How much of a "scientist" can s/he really be to preach that stuff?

I would find out who s/he is and research his/her credentials. Then show up and ask about the "degree" or diploma or whatever s/he received from whatever Jesus School s/he attended. Get him/her to admit that s/he has no credentials as a "scientist" and/or attack his/her bias as well as some of the points s/he makes as suggested above. I would also bring a tape recorder and tape the whole thing for future reference/research.

Hell yeah I'd go. What coulod be more fun than that?

5. You must uphold the time honored tradition
I have a friend who harassed Campus Crusade in the 70s with his "Church of White Light and White Heat." They finessed the residence system to place one their moles in his dorm room in the hopes of converting him, but all that happened is that the little fundy's life was hell for a semester.

8. I gave you a suggestion at the end of that long thread.
I like Scientific American's answers to creationists' nonsense. At least you'd have fun picking apart their arguments in your head, even if you don't speak up.

I still like that one that was offered up - the one about why aren't there any atheist IDers.

9. Okay, so the idiot creationists believe...
...that humans and dinosaurs coexisted. Why, then, are there no known cave drawings of humans riding or running from or warnings about dinosaurs?

10. I remember as a freshman
(an apparently super-naive freshman) I went to a Kampus Krusade for Khrist meeting, thinking it was going to be like a church youth group or something...ugh...I guess the word "crusade" should have tipped me off.

12. Yes. Make it as hard for them as you can.
:P The Campus Crusaders were my arch nemeses in college, along with the Maranatha folks.

Ask what the "scientist's" credentials are and ask if the college he/she attended (if indeed they actually went to one) was accredited. There are a lot of bible colleges and other such institutions that are fundie through and through, and they are not accredited by legitimate accrediting agencies and also not eligible to receive Federal or state aid. And they teach what they want to teach without regard to legitimacy or scientific method. (Examples of such schools are Bob Jones University and any number of bible colleges.) I want to know what this "expert" thinks of scientific method and if he/she has a doctoral degree in his/her field. I'll bet said "scientist" has a bachelor's degree or lower.
