It's October 11th, and there's a blizzard outside.
What method should I use to kill myself??

Should I leap off the roof of one of the dorm high rises?? Should I just do a bullet to the brain?? Or should I hang myself?? Poison, maybe?? Traditional Samurai suicide, perhaps??

Over an inch in the past 30 minutes for us. God, this winter is gonna SUH-HUUUUUCK...:banghead:

1. Don't end it all.
Winter is starting too early down this way too.

Hang in there and keep warm. :(

2. They said it would be 51 and sunny up here on Saturday...
Otherwise, I'm going over to the FOX 15 WeatherCenter and kicking some ass.:D:D:D

3. OMG
Seriously?

I am *SO* glad I don't have to deal with winter anymore. It's in the 70s here today...kinda like it is pretty much every day.

Sorry about the snow though!

5. Yeah, I remember you were consoling me after the rant I had last Jan.
It was like the 3rd straight week of temps not getting above zero back then, and I was getting ready to pack my things and LEAVE. I'm still gonna finish school here, though.

I was at the Quizno's over at University Village today (at around 5pm) to get a free sub meal with the participation in one of those credit card offers, and the people who were working for Chase (the promoter), were getting all pissy because of the wintery weather. I asked them if they were from out of town, and they said they were from Nebraska. I told them I heard it ain't much better in Nebraska right now. I told they credit card guys that this weather is North Dakota's insurance policy against ever getting Californicated. LOL

Anyway, I think God hates us.

7. Actually...
it's in the 40s in Nebraska right now, but their forecast has them popping back into the 60s by the weekend. So it's a taaaaaad bit better. No snow yet, anyway.

There is definitely no way that any place in the midwest will ever be Californicated. For many reasons, but certainly not the least of which being the weather.

Chin up, this can only last another...what? 6-8 months? ;)

9. I dunno, I read an article about Californication happening to Minnesota.
Because of the recent Republican trend in the state. A lot of people from the Sun Belt are moving to the Twin Cities/St. Cloud corridor.

10. Well, an increased population
in one city does not equal Californication. You've got to live here to truly understand what that means. But basically it would require nearly the entire state to be caught up in a population explosion that led to insane (and I mean Ri-fucking-diculous) housing prices, freeways that jam up at 3am, etc. And well, that's just not gonna happen in the midwest.

I don't know if you've ever heard of it...:)

13. I have
it's totally not the same thing. I mean, Southern California is a solid city for 100 miles to the north and south of Los Angeles.

And I know that Chicago's pricey by midwest standards, but they're not paying $1M for a 2 bedroom/1 bath fixer-upper in the bad part of town.

14. Some of this also comes from neighboring states
You are well aware that most kids go to college and leave in North Dakota. Well, they have these hard "Republican Values" which they take with them when they settle around the Twin Cities to commute to their inner city jobs from the outer ring suburbs. These types come from North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa. They push the same fiscal policies which have left their states as job depressed areas. If low taxes made life paradice, then why are the Dakotas not buldging to the hilt? They have not made that connection yet.

8. Ah...well you DO live in Fargo according to your profile
and you're complaining about snow?

Seriously, hang in there snow if fun (except for shoveling it). I have to wait at least another month then I get to stick boards to my feet and try to stay upright on them as I fall down a mountain. Fun, fun stuff. :)

12. That's interesting...
Well, certainly not the possibility of you killing yourself, but the fact that y'all are having a blizzard at this time of year. I've been bitching all through this month at how it's still nasty and humid outside down here (the high is still in the 80's during the day) that I'm surprised it's already getting that cold so early up there. I'd love to see snow right now myself; maybe we should trade places! (Of course, this is the statement of someone who's never experienced anything remotely close to a blizzard; I'm sure experiencing one would change my opinion somewhat!)

19. In exigent circumstances,
the rituals around formalized seppuku-disembowelment (which include a second to (nearly) sever the head (so that it doesn't fall -- how unseemly that would be!) at some point in the process) can be foregone (including the specifics of method).

Drawing the short-sword (or whatever suitable weapon is available) through the neck (insofar as possible) would be an acceptable alternative, as would a stab to the heart with a knife. (You get style points for doing this as a couple (husband and wife -- to each other), as the castle burns (so that the enemy is denied taking your head). Of course, one has a last faithful retainer or two standing-by to protect the proceedings -- and to defend against any unseemly head-taking, until the fire is so advanced as to make this impossible. "Ran*, don't let them take my head!")

In more modern times, the practice has evolved in accordance with the change in personal weapons, and using a fire-arm is permissible.

On the other hand, there's nothing like a showy, traditional ritual.

*: Mori Ranmaru, Nobunaga's loyal retainer

...

But seriously, the first snowfall of the season is something to be enjoyed... as is the last.

22. It's supposed to be snowing here
Looking at the weather channel radar, it looks like it should be happening now. Looking outside right now, it isn't. I hate winter. Why did it have to come early this year?

24. It's raining like crazy here...
The town of Cordova got 18 inches in 24 hours. Valdez and Seward are also flooded. Highways are closed, bridges washed out, people stranded. Not so bad here in Anchorage though, just soggy.
