Jean Baptiste Illinois Jacquet (sorry I mis-spelled it Jaquet). Born in Louisiana, land of big names.

I wish my parents had named me either "Jean Baptiste" or "Illinois Jacquet".

7. Krupa is sweet...
You have some great musical tastes, oaitw. I used to listen to Krupa and Rich when I was maybe 15 and just getting around to jazz in my drumming lessons. The 1 1/2 years that it took for me to get just rudimentary jazz down pat gave me assurance that jazz drummers have all the skill and more.

Krupa was great. Rich was the best player that ever did hold a stick, in my opinion. Given time, a future prog rock drummer might one up these guys.

14. IMO rhytm is mostly rock..
and jazz mostly about being very subtle. I would send him to private lessons. Drums rule all. He got a metronome? If not get him one.
