I got an interesting job offer...
Personal Assistant

This would mean moving to L.A. and giving up a 25+ year career. I would be moving away from at least one of my kids too.

I hate making these kinds of decisions.

We just moved into a new house 3 months ago and just got that last box unpacked.

Anybody on here work as a personal assistant?

1. No idea on the P.A. job, but
if you have any questions about living in Los Angeles, let me know!

I moved here from Nebraska a year ago.

2. Did the offer not come with a detailing of responsibilities????
I'd really wonder about it if it did not, given that you say it was a job offer. Were I you, I would ask that question of the person who made the offer.

It could mean a lot of things...some of which might get this thread locked.

3. I'm pretty sure what the job entails...just in the talking phase
right now. They are working on the $$$ part and it comes with a house. I have been working for this person from here in Utah for a couple of years but things are going to get busy with projects real soon and she needs someone like me...of course there isn't anybody better than me to do the job. ;-)

My hubby says he will follow me anywhere, so the decision is mostly mine to make.

5. The cost of living is a biggy. I was in the military, so moving
adjusting and making new friends won't be anything new to us. I do have a few friends there already. I think the hard part will be not seeing my oldest son as often, but he can travel and so can I and we can talk every day on the phone. I even created a MySpace page so that I could see what he was up to on that thing.

The traffic is horrible. I was there last spring and witnessed a horrible accident. Thankfully, no one was killed, but when it happened, I thought they were filming a movie. It's not every day that you watch a very large SUV flip end-to-end. And this wasn't even on the freeway...just a little side street.

We use to live in Wash. DC.

7. Do you have kids? The LA school system sucks unless your house is in
Santa Monica, Bel Air or Beverly Hills.

And make a contract if you can, since personal assistants get eaten alive in LA. You blink wrong and they send you to the wolves.

What kind of work does/would hubby do?

6. I'm glad I walked away
I had the skills; he lacked the scruples. So he's a famous millionaire and I'm happy in my own skin. No regrets whatsoever.
