Poll question: Ever participate in the Race for the Cure? (Komen, breast cancer)
Just did it for the first time this past Saturday. One of my wife's friends has just been diagnosed a few days ago.

If you yourself are a breast cancer survivor and you feel comfortable sharing your experience with RftC here, please do so.

1. I've done it several times
until last year, when our local race offered a new "sleep in for the cure" option.

2. I think they offered that option in Dallas, too
Me, I took the 5K. My feet hurt, but it's for a good cause.

4. I did it for my second time this year.
My grandmother and a family friend both died of breast cancer, and a friend's wife just underwent a double mastectomy this past November.

It was a very inspiring event. I admire anyone who takes part in these races/walks!

6. My mother used to help out on race day.
She lived with cancer for 15 years. She developed a second primary site in her remaining breast and was prepared to endure more chemo but her body just gave out.

8. The race in New Orleans is a lot of fun
and the cause is incredible. My stepmom died of cancer. I wore her name on my back as I ran.
