I've been to that exact spot, I know it well. It gets butt-cold up there, but it's sooo worth it when that sun comes up.

Maui no ka 'oi! Wouldn't you know, I've been over there exactly once in over five years out here (no we did not go up. Mom is much too wussy of a driver to drive up that road. :( )

:) I was there in 1983. This is a snapshot of me on the top of Haleakala at sunrise (taken by my sister):

(Edited to add: I was wrapped in a huge blanket we borrowed from our hotel. It was friggin' COLD up there! And I'm standing close to the exact spot where you took your pic!)
