What's the weirdest thing you ever got in your Halloween bag?
I once got a toothbrush.
One year I also got a condom from some joker.

1. Toothbrush, floss, and a little tube of toothpaste.
In his defense, the guy was a dentist.

2. A couple of years ago, a Mary Kay rep was handing out
lipstick samples to the kids. Problem was, it looked like candy. We avoided her house from then on.

That was the year I gave out pillows and sheets because I was in a stupor.

11. Whatever. My sister used to eat chapsticks & lip gloss all the time.
She turned out fairly normal, exceptionally normal for this family, actually.

3. When my kids were little, the neighbor girl(age 5-6) got a bag of
stew! We found out it was done by the 15 yr old down the street. They'd had stew for supper and since he was passing out candy, he thought it'd be funny to hand some stew out to kids.

4. When I was a kid, an elderly lady was handing out unwrapped
popcorn balls. Now while popcorn balls aren't weird, and it was safe to eat just about anything gotten in our neighborhood since we all knew each other, the weird thing about them was that the unwrapped popcorn balls picked up lint and debris because they were sticky. None of us realized it until we got home. The popcorn balls we got had dog hair, candy wrappers, lint, and other small debris stuck to them (think Homer Simpson's big cotton candy ball ). Most of that came from being in our trick-or-treat bags, but the dog hair was from her dog (long and white---our dog's hair was short brown dachsund fur). I'm betting not too many people ate those popcorn balls. :yoiks:

Poor lady---she was a really good cook too. :(

8. Same here, plus I'll add...
the woman who used to give a single penny to everyone, then say "if we saved a penny a day, we'd have 365 pennies at the end of the year." Yeah, that's real nice lady. Where the fuck is my candy?

14. (gave) tea packets, sugar packets, ketchup
True story. I gave all our candy away and turned off the light. I went upstairs of our little townhouse apartment and started getting ready to go out that night. My buddy who didn't live there was downstairs just hanging out...while I was in the bathroom I kept hearing what sounded like running around and some yelling but I just figured it was my roommate and my buddy goofing around or something. It wasn't. I gave away so much good candy that word had gotten around and the kids friends came all at once I am sure we had some repeats too.

The yelling I had heard was my buddy screaming up the stairs "WHERE IS THE CANDY!!!" I couldn't hear him because I was in the shower. There were 10 or 15 kids waiting outside the open front door while he ran around frantically trying to find the candy (there was none left) or something else to give them.

In our bachelor pad apartment he found (in our kitchen drawers) AND HANDED OUT the following

Sugar packets
Tea
Ketchup
plastic knife/fork/napkin/salt/pepper package
coupons (expired)
pennies
tartar sauce packets (roommate loved Long John Silvers)
Arby's sauce

The neighbors never talked to us much.

17. I had a similar experience in college
I was at my brother's place getting ready to go to a party on Halloween; we had just gotten really stoned and were waiting for some friends to come over to go to this party.

The doorbell rang and my brother jumped up to answer it -- thinking it was our friends. It was actually several trick-or-treaters. He rushed to the kitchen and ended giving them each an individually wrapped slice of American cheese!

The expression on those kids' faces was priceless! I think the only reason he didn't get teepeed was because they thought he was crazy!

18. LOL
Luckily my buddy went with the stuff that didn't need refrigeration.

Of course this is the same guy who once set my microwave to run and then DING wake him up in an hour. He didn't know about setting the power to Zero so he ended up cooking the glass tray and it broke.

21. An ice ball with frozen carrots in it
Older, eccentric lady in Seattle, who was drunk or confused when we trick-or-treated her place. Apparently, she just grabbed something out of the freezer. Bizarre, bizarre.

(The people a couple houses down from her had a huge sign on their door: "SORRY BOYS AND GIRLS, BUT GOD SAYS HALLOWEEN IS A NO-NO. COME BACK ANOTHER DAY FOR A TREAT.")

25. I can't think of anything weird I ever got in my Halloween bag.
I trick-or-treated back in the days when you could still safely get homemade cookies and popcorn balls, and the neighbors invited kids in for cocoa or hot apple cider.

26. Is this bizarre to give out? I'm going for it this year.

It's individual pack Play-Dohs. They were cheap. If I get candy in the house before 6:00 PM on Halloween, I'll eat every last bit of it. Plus, Play-Doh smells soooo gooood to me.

But do you think I should have some candy on hand for big kids so I don't get my car egged or anything?
