I got a provisional job offer pending my criminal background check
As long as they don't find out about that little mess with a chainsaw a few years back I should start sometime next week. :)

to save them?

11. Good.
Apparently it's humane to kill them slowly as long as they don't fuss too much.

12. Oh yeah, totally.
Honestly, I think this whole animal rights movement will take off, if we just continue promoting saving animals by killing them.

15. Nope. I did go yell at fur hags at Schumacher this weekend.
They had five security guys. One just to videotape us all. Plus the free cop just for them they pitched a fit until the city provided. Wonder if they realize the cops like them about as much as the protesters do?

16. Good for you!
People wearing fur make me so mad - I just cannot even begin to express it. Thank god I live in the tropics, so I never run across anyone involved in such an obscenity. However, the "sport" fishing industry continues to keep my blood pressure high...:grr:

17. Ugh.
I saw so many ads for hunting and fishing guides on the trip up. I can't help but wonder about people who can't enjoy nature without killing somebody.

19. Yeah, well here in my town
it is a regular feature in the paper to show some jerk with a huge DEAD fish...or with one they are going to "tag and release". Never mind that they have already made the poor creature fight for HOURS for its life and so when they FINALLY do release it, it is lucky to not become prey for a predator or just to die from exhaustion. Oh dear, time for bed, don't let me get going on this...sorry, off thread here....

meanwhile...congrats on your job!

18. Serious question..
how do you feel about "recycled" fur? I used to have a costumer that (btw I never got any of these outfits)would buy old fur coats and re-use them as parts of costumes; etc.

23. We've talked about old furs a few times in the veg forum
There doesn't seem to be a general consensus on the best thing to do with old furs. My personal preference is that they ought to be buried, cremated or otherwise reverently destroyed because they are mortal remains. There are however good arguments for using them in animal rescue (they make good bedding for abandoned babies,) for props in anti-fur demos and in other positive purposes. My objection is that using fur for something positive in some way redeems and perpetuates the fur industry by perpetuating the idea that another animal's flesh is a resource.

I would encourage a costumer to use faux fur rather than the real thing. Some of the higher end stuff is just shockingly realistic. (For general purposes I don't like the use of realistic faux fur because I feel it helps to keep fur socially acceptable but I realize it's useful in costuming, especially with period gear.)
