So I'm curious - straight married couples - how many of you are heading...
....for the divorce court now that New Jersey is allowing Same Sex marriage?

:eyes:

Yeah, I'm guessing that's a big zero, but I swear we're gonna hear the repukes claim that left and right that this will break up the sanctity of marriage. They're idiots

2. I thought we didn't have to go to divorce court...
Now that the god-despising perverts have destroyed the sanctity of marriage, all of our marriages are automatically meaningless, and we're going to be forced into same-sex relationships (I sure hope the guy I get stuck with is cute...) :silly:

to keep these guys, uh, "straight".
Box turtles? What kind of mind thinks about sex with box turtles?
What a twisted bunch. They protect a pedophile in order to keep one of their guys in power. They lie about why we invaded Iraq. They make fun of a man suffering from Parkinson's disease.
And evangelicals align themselves with these guys?
What Bible are they reading? The special Satan's edition?
Bizarre.

Gah! And if I can't get married, I can't have sex. Shit. I'm going to die a virgin. Damn you gay people and your fucking civil rights!

"Hon? New Jersey just legalized gay marriage. I feel our marriage is therefore THREATENED."
"What?"
"I say I THINK OUR MARRIAGE IS THREATENED! BY THIS NEW JERSEY RULING."
"Where?"
"NEW JERSEY."

She's in the kitchen and I'm out here.

"WHAT DOES NEW JERSEY GAY MARRIAGES HAVE TO DO WITH US?"
"I DUNNO. I JUST THINK IT DOES. EVERYBODY SAYS SO.
I THINK WE SHOULD PROBABLY GET A DIVORCE NOW."
"OK, HON. YOU KNOW BEST. YOU NEED ANOTHER DRINK?"

22. Radical Activists Prevail in New Jersey Marriage Decision
Funny you should mention this. I checked my work email and found this message:

Decision Taking Marriage Out of the Hands of the People of New Jersey Will Propel Marriage Amendment In Congress

Marriage Protection Amendment Drafted by AFM Is Essential to Protect Views of the Majority of Americans From Ongoing Activist Lawsuits

WASHINGTON, DC - The Alliance for Marriage called upon Congress today to pass AFM's Marriage Protection Amendment in the aftermath of today's state Supreme Court decision taking the future of marriage out of the hands of the people of New Jersey.

"This marks the second state -- after Vermont -- where radical activist groups have convinced state court judges to hold a gun to the head of the legislature," said Matt Daniels, president of the Alliance for Marriage. "The legislature will now be compelled to choose between two bullets -- all under court order. Either they create so-called 'gay marriage' or they create a civil union scheme that is identical. Either way, the people of New Jersey lose the right to decide -- freely and democratically -- to choose the course that is best for them, their families and their children."

"Given the continuous attacks upon marriage in courts across the country, AFM's Marriage Protection Amendment is clearly the only hope for the American people to determine the future of marriage under our laws," Daniels added.

The Alliance for Marriage filed an amicus brief in the New Jersey case decided today arguing that the legislature of New Jersey was fully entitled to protect marriage as an institution that seeks to ensure that more children will be raised in a home with a mother and a father.

"Most Americans believe that gays and lesbians have a right to live as they choose. But they don't believe they have a right to redefine marriage for our entire society," said Daniels. "Americans wan t our laws to send a positive message to children about marriage, family and their future."

"The constitutional problem created by almost a decade of activist lawsuits to destroy our marriage laws demands a constitutional fix," Daniels added.

I have no idea how I got on their mailing list.

23. My wife and I have been on the edge of our seats....
just KNOWING that if "traditional marriage" isn't protected by no less than a constitutional ammendment, out marriage is doomed for sure. If we allow same sex marriage, all existing opposite sex marriages will instantly fail, and the "gay agenda" will surely have total control over us all.

We can only pray to our evangelical, wants-us-to-be-financially-successful god that the virtuous republicans will save us from this scourge. They are, after all, the only ones who can protect us.

OK, so they can't protect us from terrorism, but at least we won't lose sleep over those america-hating gays taking over our christian nation. Thank god!

Feeling better already...

29. I conducted a poll (read: IMed ex-gf's mom) and the results were startling
I believe this will show the THREAT that straight couples feel from this.

Me: gay marriage declared a right today. courts have 180 days to put legistlation in effect. There's a rally at the unitarian church in montclair at 7pm

Nancy: We were just talking about that at work. My boss and coworker are gay.

Me: Yeah I know. So as a heterosexual, is your marriage feeling threatened yet?

Nancy: Yes. I'm afraid. Very afraid. Maybe Steve and I will suddenly be infected with gay and feel the need to find a same sex partner.

Me: Well, you're already pretty gay straight people. The conversion shouldn't be too hard. I mean, Steve collect barbies.

Nancy: True.

Me: well, I have to go eat dinner before heading down to montclair for the rally

Nancy: Have fun.

Me: okay. I might be seeing chelsea there too

Nancy: Cool.

180 days and they're going to be married to someone of the same-sex. It's a shame.

we both got so drunk we wound up marrying them too. I now have a husband and wife and so does my wife. I suppose the rightwingers were right; it is a a slippery slope into polygamy. Oops. We slipped. When Massachusetts said it was okay we held onto the edge of slide for dear life, but now that NJ has said it was okay we just couldn't hold on any longer ;)

1. Get a divorce

2. Change gender preference

3. Find someone who will live with us

4. Marry that person

5. Endure all the fun n' games of a relationship

6. Supreme Court overturns same sex marriage

7. Forced to divorce or annul

The hell with it; who needs sanctity.
