Laser optical mice - do you use one?
Instead of a red LED, it uses a thinner laser light.

Is there any benfit to using one? (e.g. 3d apps, game playing, et al)

Thx!

2. I have a wireless optical mouse.
It's got a massively huge red LED thing, though. :D

3. I've used a cordless Logitech MX Laser mouse for well over a year now
Edited on Sat Oct-28-06 09:38 PM by samdogmom
and I have no complaints. I used to have a cordless optical mouse and I often had to pick it up and reset it to get the cursor in the right place. I don't have this problem any more. My mouse is precise, accurate and a joy. I just worry that it is going to die without warning (something a corded mouse is less likely to do(?--not sure.)) Anyway, go for it!

9. I'm a Luddite
I use a corded, though optical, mouse, the batteries in my wireless always died at the most inopportune times (it's amazing how frantic you can get when you're chatting with the future one-night-stand of your life and the batteries die!)

10. Mine doesn't have batteries. I'm not sure what the power source is
but there are no batteries to replace. Someday, I'm sure it will die. But I've already seen an even better Logitech laser mouse that I'd like to try, so if it dies, I'll upgrade.

5. Call me biased. I still prefer mice with balls.
I have used some of the optical mice at school and I don't like them. I can't seem to get them to do what I want them to do half the time and they frustrate me. Maybe they don't like my looks. :P

I still prefer the ones with balls even though I have to clean them carefully, thoroughly, and quite often. They don't seem to mind either. So I'm good to go.

:)

6. Maybe the ones they have at school aren't very good.
I've had problems with some optical mice, but quality ones work fine.
