Less-than-satisfying karma
It's not every day you get to watch karmic balance take place in front of your eyes.

The trouble, I'm finding, is that it doesn't offer nearly the satisfaction I'd hoped. You get the shaft from someone, you believe in karmic balance, you let it go and wait for the universe to take care of things for you. It always does, usually later and you don't hear about it.

But if it's about to happen right before you, you start getting odd feelings of anticipation. "Wow, they're gonna get it now." You get excited about it, look forward to it.

Comeuppance. Payback. Git-what's-comin'-to-'em.

You don't even have to do anything, the universe is screwing the person for you.

Then it happens, and it's kind of a let-down. You don't feel sorry for them, or anything, but you just can't dance on their metaphorical grave as much as you'd expected, even hoped.

Funny, that.

1. There's always time for metaphorical grave-dancing
Even if it takes years and not months.

But there's also time to step back and realize that sometimes things don't happen the way you want them to, and sometimes it's better not to want divine retribution.

2. Not wanting it
and seeing it happen are different things. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't want it to happen, on some dark level. But watching it isn't giving me any buzz. It's all leaving me rather hollow.

4. I understand completely
Edited on Sun Oct-29-06 09:04 PM by lizziegrace
I worked for a woman who made my life (and the lives of those around her) hell. A few years later, I ended up working at the same company with her husband. Same department even. The company announced they were laying off over 350 people. The woman's husband was one of them. I thought I'd find a small bit of satisfaction in it, but it wasn't there. At all. He looked like he wanted to die and it broke my heart.

This just proves you're a decent guy Robb.

5. A certain person
made my daughters life ( and therefore mine) pure misery for a very long time.

She became very sick , and died a horrible death.
.
It gave me no satisfaction .It only made me very very sad.

Vengence is a very empty thing
