anyone else see Seabiscuit movie & PBS special ?
The movie was great but after seeing the PBS special first the movie seemed to be lacking. Not sure how to get this accross but the hour special was so rich in info & details that were just cast aside in the movie. The most disappointing example being the final race for the 100 grander at the very end of the movie. The pbs special told of how Seabiscuit was straining at the bit but hopelessly boxed in when red sees a small opening & tells seabiscuit " OK pops " it was so moving in the special it brings tears just thinking about it & in the movie it is totally missing. Anyway it was a great film but it could have been even better & had a chance to take home a few Oscars that LOTR rings deserves but won't get either.

The Oscars are for sale and Peter Jackson & Bill Murray have made it known that they will not buy something that should be earned.

1. Have you read the book?
The book by Laura Hillenbrand is better than the movie or the PBS special. Sorry, though - Secretariat is still number one in my heart.

2. loved the book
and reluctant to see the movie, for that reason. The movie is almost always a disappointment.

3. We loved the movie
Our friend Gaby, DH and I watched "Seabiscuit" on Christmas Eve. I had read the book; I was glued into it till I finished it.

Prior to "Seabiscuit", I had no interest in horse racing. I'd now like to see a race. Neither DH nor our friend had ever read the book; they loved the movie. Even with the plot "holes", I thought it was one of the better movies we'd seen for quite some time.

We'll be buying the DVD, and a copy of the book for our friend...
