My new kittens-any suggestions on names?

I posted an hour ago regarding food for them. Everyone was so helpful.
They are both female and 8 weeks old. When awake, they are wild and rough. Then they get so sleepy and are sweet as angels.

3. Oh, BVE, they are beautiful!
Congratulations on receiving such a wonderful gift.

We fostered a pregnant feral tortoiseshell two years ago. We named her Patches -- not very original, I suppose, but it suited her.

Perhaps if you wait a few days your kittens will tell you their names.

11. Those are great names everyone
On the short list is Artemis and Athena.
Also: French and Saunders, Mary-Anne and Ginger, Chaos and Cosmos, Pestilence and Famine (Mark Twain had two kittens named that), and Miss Cleo and Miss Poovey.
Looks like I need to add to the short list.

13. Thelma & Louise.. of course
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 06:36 PM by SoCalDem
Ours have odd names, but they suit them

Amber, Princess of the Universe

Mommie..waif of a cat who later gave birth to 4 kittens

Skunkie (son of Mommie)...big scaredy cat..afraid of his own shadow, but a sweetheart in his own way..

Willie..(morphed from "Will he" live?..He was minutes from death when I rescued him ..after 11 days of intensive vet care and several hundred dollars, he weighed in at a whopping 11 oz)..He now weighs almost 20 lubs..and is evil through and through..

Starvin' Marvin...still skinny but hardly starvin'
ChinnyChin...Marvin's littermate/sister.. a mini-cat, not skinny just half sized
SweetiePie.. face of an angel, but he's a little devil inside
(These three are 3 of the 5 that I gathered up easter egg style from my yard on the day they were born..I cut their cords, picked ants off of them and mothered them..

Sara...calico baby of the second litter (same mother as the 3 above) that I rescued and bottle fed.. She is still insistent on "nursing" my ear lobe.:eyes:

Sammy,,, Sara's brother.. a Willie lookalike except for a faint grey streak up his nose & forehead.. He's a "melter" when he's being lovey..

We did not name Sara & Sammy.. They were boomerang kittens.. I found a home that took both of them at 8 weeks and after she had them for 2 weeks, she became deathly ill from her CAT ALLERGY.. so I had to take them back..

15. What cuties!
I've got two short-hair torties, but they came at different times and wound up being called Doodle and Squeek. Hubby and I joked that we could change Doodle's name to Bubble, and they'd be 'Bubble and Squeak' -- but Doodle is more than a name for that cat, it goes straight in to her bones.

I like your 'Saunders and French' idea. We rescued Squeek off the patio of a restaurant the night before we adopted our dog, who's named Max. We originally called her Sam, after the cartoon 'Sam and Max,' but she just wasn't a Sam. She is, however, a Squeek -- every time we say her name to her, she squeaks.

17. How cute
With mine, I do a high pitched kitten cry and they stop whatever wildness and destruction they were involved in to come to me and give me some love.

16. Contrats on the new babies
I'm surprised at the number of DUers with new kittens.
I thought "kitten" season was over.
Maybe you're in an area with warm winters.
That must be it.

19. That's it!
They are both not setting foot outdoors but they will be getting fixed as soon as they are able. I wonder if that changes their personalities? I hope not.

20. Spaying them will keep them "kittenish" their whole lives
When they are interested in breeding all the time, they are not nearly as sweet pets as they will be after they are spayed.. Unspayed females can die from some serious internal infections too, so get those innards scooped out ASAP :)

22. Well,,, Okay.
I have six cats. Their names are: Mr. Squeeks, Gatita, Amber, Mithrandir AKA Mythie (female), Mancherster AKA Mannie (male), and Annie. Departed and sorely missed are Boy Cat and Sissy. One Sheltie dog named Sweetums.

Now are you sure you want advice from me on naming your cats? :)

30. Morrissey and Hornsby
That's what I'll name my next kitties after the two I have now (Simba and Montana) leave this world (hopefully not for YEARS & YEARS & YEARS).

I also like literary and classical references. A dearly departed tortie I used to have was named Guinevere. I love the suggestion "Artemis" - I think that's a cool name for a cat. I'd go with "Artemis" and "Athena."

31. How About Sadie and Bessie
after the Delaney sisters. They each lived to be more than 100 years old. If you haven't read their books, you've missed a real treat. Their first was called "Having Our Say, the Delaney Sisters First 100 Years." If you read that, you'll want more. They were a delight.
