Time for Kef's Late Night B-Day Movie Talk/Trivia Party!
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 11:34 PM by khephra
Woo hoo!

I'm getting ready to watch The Wicker Man. Join me!

First question for the crowd:

Why should Lord of the Rings movie fans watch The Wicker Man?

(The fact that Chris Lee is in both films doesn't count. That's part of it though.)

(All Decemeber Babies should read post #3)

3. Happy Birthday!
This thread is for you too and all the other Dec babies...not just those who are born on this day.

This thread is for anyone who has ever heard the following line:

"This present is for both your birthday and Christmas."

6. It could be worse...
my best friend and my brother are both January babies. Do you know how hard it is to find something cool on any store shelf for someone whose birthday is right after xmas? Or how much my mom had to fight with stores to get to hold big toys on lay-away past xmas for my brother's birthday when he was a kid?

Still, the birthday/xmas present thing sucks.

21. What we should do is remember the people that do that to us
And when it comes time for their birthday say the exact same thing right back at them.

Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 11:25 PM by khephra
who is sent to investigate a girl's disappearance and possible death on a Scottish island (not sure on the geography). He discovers that somehow this island isn't "Christianized". That's all I can say. It's one of those films with several twists.

Does someone actually get put in the "Wicker Man" and burned alive? Just out of morbid curiosity. Or is there a daring, last-minute rescue?

P.S. You misspelled trivia in your original subject line.

23. Thanks!
And if you know that much about a Wicker Man then you're on the "inside" of the plot.

What I mean by that is that you actually already know the background that's presented in the film, so when you watch it you'll be like a Super Dective and "know" where the plot is going. You'll start chortling and laughing, saying outloud, "They can't ACTUALLY be doing this can they?"

28. I'm not a pagan...
I just play one on TV. :-)

Seriously though, I have lots of pagan friends and an interest in the history of religion. I have all sorts of arcane stuff sloshing around in my head.

30. yeah, I think it came out very recently - two disc set, very nice
a neat documentary amongst the extras - it only has some excerpts from WSB's own NL reading, long outta print but snaggable via kaaza and quite good despite his age at that point. And prominent vodka-slur.

but still, hearing him read his work unlocked the writing for me and really got me addicted to it. I first stumbled on "THE TICKET THAT EXPLODED" in a library when I was about 14-15 or so, and it smashed the shit out of my brain, I didn't understand a word of it but knew I'd be obsessed until I could.

Years later, it still baffles, entertains, informs.

10. Happy Birthday, man!
Unfortunately, I haven't seen LOTR or The Wicker Man, so I'm ill-equipped to speak about both.

However, if you want to talk about "the worst movie I've seen in the last 24 hours," let me nominate "National Security." Despite Martin Lawrence's prescence, the movie sucked donkeys... x(

Did you hit the Masonic Lodge tonight?

18. Yeah.
It was interesting. Tonight was the first Festive Table event (I hope I have the terminology right) I've been to.

I'm not quite sure on the Lodge etiquette on talking about positions, but I've been elected to my first position within my Lodge.

IIRC, they named the band after the movie, but I don't know why.
