Poll question: Who took off work tomorrow to canvass or whatever?
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 04:13 PM by janesez
I took off work tomorrow. I am working a phone bank for a while in the midday and then canvassing all afternoon and evening. I can't wait!! You won't see me around here tomorrow but I'll be thinking of you all while I work for positive change! Best of luck to all of us! :hi:

3. I'm taking off work, but I can't get out of school
I've mostly done my part in volunteering during the last few weeks.... I just hope it helped and that we emerge victorious tomorrow night :scared:

9. That is a strange American idiom, isn't it?
"Took off work". It might be East-coast centric, I'm not sure. What would you say? "Asked off from work"? Is that better? LOL!

I know you can't vote, but I know you'll be pulling for us. :hi:

15. I think "took off work" is fine
it was the "took off work tomorrow" bit that I liked.

Boring people would say "will take off work tomorrow." :D

16. Seriously.
I don't know how I'm going to survive! Especially since I'm on the west coast, so by the time I get off work, results will be coming in already!

I get to appear at a polling place on the other side of the city at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow! Whee!

14. I'll probably be at my polling place around the same time.
I always wake up early on election day, it's like Christmas. My polling place is right across the street, so I roll out of bed in PJ's, put a coat on over them, and go over and vote. Then I can relax, shower, get ready for my day, etc. But the voting comes first.

You are doing important work!! Best to you! :hi:

21. Heh...I won't be able to vote until 3:30 or so...
Basically, my schedule tomorrow is this:

5:30 (eek): Wake up, shower, eat, dress, etc.
6:30: Arrive at the high school on the other side of town
7:00: Polls open
9:30: Leave for school
10:30-11:40: Torts
12-1: Lunch, sell tickets for the Public Interest Law Society Thanksgiving Dinner
2-3:10: Contracts
3:30: Arrive at my own polling place, vote, then head back to the other side of town
4:00 (or whenever I get there based on poll lines and traffic): Poll watching
8:00 Polls close
??-?? Returns party (in yet another part of town)

Happily, through sheer luck, I have no classes this Wednesday. So I'll be able to recover.

17. Election Day is a state holiday here
and our agency takes state and federal holidays off.

And yet we still have the crappiest voter turnout in the land...

18. Wow, really?
That is so surprising. Everything I've read leads me to believe that states/countries who make election day a holiday have a higher vote turnout.
