I wish Harrison had remastered All Things Must Pass
The Wall of Sound just doesn't translate well to CD. I prefer to listen to it on vinyl...got the CD on right now and you can barely distinguish the lyrics from the music on some songs....especially my favorite:

Awaiting on You All

You don’t need no love in
You don’t need no bed pan
You don’t need a horoscope or a microscope
The see the mess that you’re in
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
We’ve been polluted so long
Now here’s a way for you to get clean

By chanting the names of the lord and you’ll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and you’ll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see

You don’t need no passport
And you don’t need no visas
You don’t need to designate or to emigrate
Before you can see jesus
If you open up your heart
You’ll see he’s right there
Always was and will be
He’ll relieve you of your cares

By chanting the names of the lord and you’ll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and you’ll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see

You don’t need no church house
And you don’t need no temple
You don’t need no rosary beads or them books to read
To see that you have fallen
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
We’ve been kept down so long
Someone’s thinking that we’re all green

And while the pope owns 51% of general motors
And the stock exchange is the only thing he’s qualified to quote us
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
By chanting the names of the lord and you’ll be free

Anyone got Concert For Bangladesh on CD? Is it cleaner on that?

1. I loved all of Harrison's songs.
He was my favorite Beatle, even more so than John and Paul.

A sad day when he died.

17. Mine also
I bought the All Things Must Pass early this year. Right now I play that CD more than any. I love it more than ever now.

But I did receive Living in the Material World for Christmas so ATMP may get a little breather.

2. The boxed version contains 10 remixed cuts
Harrison explains in the liner notes how and why he didn't want to redo the whole album. I know, remixing is not the same as remastered...but I think it sounds good, actually.

4. Me too
I really like the alternate version of "What is Life" - I wish they would have put the vocals over it. It's still a great album, and right after that I'm planning on listening to "Brainwashed".

6. and no anchovies ...
the All Things Must Past album really got me off onto an eastern religion kick when it came out ...

most people played either the first or second albums over and over ... but check out Thanks for the Pepperoni on the third album ... it doesn't have any lyrics ... just a good old fashion jam ... great music ...

i've also recently heard the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps ... excellent ...

and one last tip ... check out Harrison's version of Dylan's Absolutely Sweet Marie on the Bob Dylan 50th (?) birthday compilation ...

oh, and one last, last one ... my local PBS sometimes airs a show during their fundraising weeks that featured Carl Perkins, Harrison, Clapton, Ringo and a host of others ... well worth watching ...

Harrison was one of the best ...

18. a firesign of the times
The bird's eye lowdown on this caper is George Harrison, not Nick Danger. Now eat your Loostner's Castor Oil Flakes.

10. Yeah, his voice is mixed a little higher on the Bangladesh CD.
But the band isn't nearly as tight (hardly any surprise), and Hari seems to forget some of the lyrics. At one spot, he just sings "You don't need no--- You don't need no."

I think when Harrison was the producer (or co-producer in the case of ATMP), he preferred to put his voice lower in the mix than another producer might. Maybe it had something to do with discomfort with the sound of his singing voice or something. I don't know.

I've always loved that "51% of General Motors" line. Did you notice that it wasn't included in the lyrics for the 30th anniversary version of ATMP?

13. I've practically stopped listening to CDs for these reasons...
My girlfriend got me "Holland", "Let it Bleed" Ike & Tina's "So Fine" & the Elvis Memphis record (1987 re-issue) on vinyl for Christmas-

To me these versions sound like almost like different takes- who ever did all the "remastering" on the CDs pulled a big scam, in my opinion...

...it's not all that rare- you should be able to pick up a near mint copy for no more than 20 bucks...

Amazing record- the boys are my very favorite band...

15. You all have "Concert For George", right?
If you don't, you're seriously missing out. I recommend the DVD. If their rendition of "Isn't It A Pity" doesn't make you weep, you have no soul. :)
