Public Service Announcement: If you don't like another DUer, the red X makes them go away.

There's really no need to create board drama over it. Just quietly ignore them and move on. If only real life were so simple.

19. don't take it personally

i have a lot of people on my list, and I don't know why. usually, they just posted something that was a pet peeve of mine.
it would be nice if you could see who was posting that you are ignoring. especially in the smaller forums. i run into "ignored", in the middle of an interesting thread, and i don't want to dump my whole list to see who it is. i suppose that defeats the purpose. but still.

I have no problem doing that here without using the ignore tool. If I feel like I'm being baited, I don't respond. If someone upsets me, I just let it go. Are some people so compulsive that they can't resist the urge to respond no matter what is said by people they know consistently upset them?

The concept is not part of my make up, so I truly do not get it.

I can ignore people quite easily on my own and I simply do not understand why others cannot. It was not my intention to denigrate anyone. I assume there must be a history here I am not privvy to that warranted the development of that feature.

How about this? Just ignore the fact I awkwardly put my foot in my mouth!

21. For me, it's about curiosity winning out over knowing...

I know that reading threads by a certain person will make me frustrated or rolling my eyes or whatever... rather than letting my curiosity win and reading them anyway (yes, my own problem, I know), I just don't see them. Though seeing "ignored" in any thread is almost enough to make me take the person back off ignore.

But, yeah, there's a history � flame wars upon flame wars upon flame wars...

I abandoned one earlier today when I saw where it was going.

I don't think of myself as "compulsive," but I do know me quite well, and I have a choice when the personal attacks start: I can back out with as much grace as I can muster or I can rotate the launch keys. The latter would get ugly, and the "ignore" feature eliminates the source of temptation. I consider it a valuable tool.
