Had the flu? Did you have hives with it?
I'm about four days into this goddam flu and I'm covered with itchy hives today. Another person a thousand miles away said he had hives with his, too.

Anyone else?

1. Sounds more like a reaction to medicine you've taken.

Are you allergic to tylenol, or whatever you've been taking for the symptoms? Doesn't matter if you've been taking it all your life either, your body can suddenly decide it doesn't like it.

on edit: sorry you're sick and hope you get better soon. :)

2. No hives here, but I've had this fucking cough for almost a month
and now I got a killer sinus infection on top of it. Thank God it's another short work week (if I even make it that long)

3. Post-viral exanthema?
My oldest has had a rash before after having a virus, even a mild one.

It will probably be a short term rash. A high fever from the flu may have caused its onset.

4. Yes, I took tamiflu and got hives.
Still have remnants of them. Still itchy. It's been over a month for me.

5. Did you take an antibiotic?
They can cause an allergic reaction. Before anyone starts up, I know they're not supposed to help if it's a virus but I thought I'd throw this in just in case....

6. none of the above
The only med I've taken is the same I take every day. One aspirin for cardiac benefit daily. And two aspirin when my fever was up to 103. Nothing else.

No contact with anything new that would cause an allergic reaction either. I have no allergies.

No shellfish, no wine, nothing different to eat.

It's nuts. And the itch is driving me nuts. I'm taking an antihistamine but it isn't working very well.

Thanks for the input.

9. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
can mimic flu symptoms, but there is a rash also. Antibiotics will clear it up if that's what it is. Have you been hunting and maybe gotten a tick?

10. I haven't had the flu, but I got hives with a cold virus once....
It's actually more common (from what I read) to have the hives with a cold or flu virus as a young child/baby. I had this combination for the very first time last year at age 34. I was perplexed, as I have no allergies, and had never had such a reaction! I did some net surfing and found info from others. I don't have the links saved, but at least rest assured that you are not alone! It does happen to others.
